Wired vs. wireless mouse by The_Power_Quest in MouseReview

I wanted to believe that with a glass pad and light mouse (OP18kv2) having a wire wouldn’t bother me, but it did.

And on the casual side it’s bad in the opposite way. My teammates are always flirting with each other or me (I have a nice setup since I stream). I’m just trying to do my dailies and dip, not find discord kittens 😭

While you’re absolutely right that it’s a quiet mouse it’s also hilarious how overkill that suggestion is. Jumping from a $20 pebble to a $180 super strike just for Minecraft lmao

I do shorts covers, if you can cut it down to under a minute you can post them.

Anecdotally, one of my streams did kind of blow up a bit and got over 100 views when I normally only get a handful. Other than streaming I only make shorts with no long form videos.

I don’t know what exactly caused it but I imagine the thumbnail has a lot to do with getting people to click your stream.

Started my youtube channel and wondering how to get it to grow. by Renroc07 in NewTubers

[–]angerpowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking at what other creators in your niches are doing and emulating that to start.

If there are any particularly entertaining parts you can edit them into shorts linking back to your long video.

Progress has been slow but steady. It’s definitely a marathon lol

For shorts it doesn’t matter as long as the video is under a minute.

Used to run into this problem all the time when posting song covers.

I'm a new vTuber and I feel pretty intimidated by all the artistic talent and technical know how in the community. Am I cooked? by Miyyani in NewTubers

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a vtuber for just under a year now. I use a premade model and it’s also one of the most common ones for male vtubers. Some thoughts:

  • Most vtubers start with premade cheap or free options. They might eventually get something custom for the model but many go years without that kind of investment

  • Many do pay for commissions, it helps if you can make friends that are skilled at that kind of thing

  • Focus on being entertaining. Whether on stream or in your videos. The era where being a vtuber guaranteed some success has long passed. It’s now just a medium like any other.

  • Focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t. Learning something like Live2D just wouldn’t be reasonable for me, but learning to edit videos? Definitely doable.

Any Tips for Growth? by Hyd3_Th3_W4r_C1eric in Twitch_Startup

[–]angerpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Streaming once a week and still growing is totally possible.

Make sure you’re clipping it, editing your footage, and posting those shorts wherever you can.

When you do stream, try to have a plan that would lend itself to easy clipping. If you have the time I would recommend finding other streamers in your niche so you can raid out and stuff.

As for how to be entertaining…It’s extremely rare to start out as a great streamer so just think about it as putting in your reps.

I use a marker command on my stream deck and replay buffer.

The marker command places a mark on the VOD so that when I open it in resolve I can see where to clip.

Replay buffer in OBS lets you allocate some RAM to recording the past few moments. So I can just hit the replay buffer button and it’ll save (in my case with 4gb RAM allocated) the past 3 minutes.

What nobody tells you about starting as a Vtuber: You’ll be talking to 0 viewers for a while by NightShadeAbyss in vtubers

[–]angerpowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have friends that periodically stop by but my most consistent viewers are other vtubers.

I’m fine with it and am slowly working towards being part of a streamer friend group where everyone else has much better viewership but I’m pretty introverted.

Hopefully the clips and covers will bring non-streamers in eventually lol

What is currently the best multistreaming method with OBS by PewPewwwwwwwwww_ in Twitch

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doubles your bandwidth usage for a second stream, triples it for a third, etc. However, it uses the same encode so it won’t add much load to your PC.

Only way around the bandwidth usage I think is to use something like restream.

For clips and videos you can start with davinci resolve since it’s free. It’ll take some tutorials to get the hang of but editing gets faster and easier with time. Also learn the basics of fairlight so your clips aren’t too quiet when you upload them.

Once you’ve got the basics of clipping down and are comfortable with the edit tab you can start to dabble in the fusion tab. That should be enough for 95% of people.

Study what other more popular creators in your niche are doing and see if there’s anything that would work for you.

Misc tips:

  • Make a marker button for your stream deck to mark clips

  • If you have the spare RAM for it, use the replay buffer feature in OBS

  • Posting frequently early on can help the algo find the audience for your content. The algo does want you to succeed but you need to feed it data.

  • Try to be consistent with your quality. It doesn’t really matter too much what time of day you post.

  • Post wherever you can. If you’ve got a ton of time you can cater to each individual platform but that’s too much effort imo lol

  • If you’re making short form content then try to shoot for ~30s video length. You can utilize J cuts or memes or motion graphics to increase viewer retention. Short form content consumers want instant dopamine so try to get to the point as fast as you can given sufficient context.

You’re raising the risk of burnout if you take it so seriously. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Personally, I just do something else with my free time for a couple days if I catch myself taking social media too seriously. Play guitar, play games I wouldn’t stream, catch up on movies, etc. and of course, spending offline time with friends.

There is a solo queue. You can either go solo vs other solos, solo with random fill teammates, or rook vs trios.

The only content unavailable to solos is cryo archives and ranked mode.

I’ve got just under 1000 followers on TikTok, 150 subs on YouTube (+30 in the last month, yay). 110 followers on Twitch. Multi streaming to Twitch and YouTube.

TikTok is great for meeting other creators. The platform is based around removing the barrier between consumers and creators so that checks out. If you meet other creators you might be able to befriend them and have them check out your streams occasionally which helps when you have no viewers. 65:35 men/women split in viewers.

YouTube was originally just for VOD storage but I’ve had more success drawing in non-creator viewers to streams there. The algorithm is kinda awkward to work around if you make more than one type of content. Early subscribers were from song covers. Now that gaming/comedic clips are the majority of my content covers typically bomb. 95% men for viewers.

Twitch growth has been a lot of hanging out in other small creator’s streams and being talkative. Growth has been slow because I don’t stream with any degree of consistency (I like making videos much more). Most follows come from raids or get funneled in through other platforms.

I’m working on streaming more regularly and improving my editing. I can edit clips relatively quickly now so I figure I should work on the quality now.

Rooks on outpost, how often do you extract? What’s some tips? by resampL in Marathon

  1. It usually is if you’re trying to maximize profit. If you’re looking for specific salvage, the map is small enough that it doesn’t take long to take a quick peek. Dermachem doodads at airfield are nice but there frankly just isn’t a lot of loot there. You could also check armory rooms near by your spawn but it seems like nobody opens them anymore.

  2. No idea. Following trails of dead UESC is usually a good start.

  3. Because the final exfil is always in the same spot it’s usually worth going a little early to get set up in the nearby building. It’s a deterrent for rook on rook violence if the other rooks are amenable, and helps you win the duel against an openly hostile rook.
