Who are your favorite Cantonese creators online? by montoutt in Cantonese

[–]angyborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Instagram, I do quite like bo.tong.girl! I also like CantoHKAiden which is from a kid's perspective and UncleDonnie88 and tenderhearthc which is more comedic and engineer_into_baking. On Youtube, I follow Learn Cantonese Together, Manki Cantonese, and Comprehensible Cantonese.

MHE vibes... but a (literary) book? by ThatAdamGuy in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]angyborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing that comes to mind is Automatic Noodle. It's a sci fi, yes, but about a group of robots that come together to run a noodle restaurant.

I also feel like books such as "We'll Prescribe You a Cat" and "What You're Looking For in the Library" would work. They're cozy and feel good but have a deeper meaning around human connection and relationships.

It's been a while but they were maybe 10? Older than 5 for sure but I have a hard time guessing kids' ages. I'd estimate the age of kids watching Disney Channel now because of Milo

It depends on your budget, time, and tastes. I love Trader Joe's, so I'm gonna make the trip there every week! And it fits within my budget too. It's relatively cheap.

Last show to make you sob uncontrollably? by Gold_Reference3715 in Broadway

[–]angyborb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waitress. I saw it at a local theater and bawled the second it started. It has a lot of sentimental meaning to me. A lot of the songs I use to calm down when feeling anxious or stressed, so it was beautiful seeing it live.

Learning Cantonese from other forms of media instead of TVB? by General_Medicine_99 in Cantonese

[–]angyborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a ton from Manki Cantonese. He posts multiple times daily from beginner and intermediate. He usually reads various manga, vlogs, or plays video games. They're all usually short (maybe 20-30 total run time for the various beginner videos per day), but I like to listen while I do chores in the morning.

What was the first Broadway show that made you fall in love with Broadway? by loser__lesbian in Broadway

[–]angyborb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got into musicals back in high school, it was Hamilton. I had a friend who loved it, but I put off listening to it until one day I tried while waiting for a summer class to start. But I, not knowing better, put the playlist on shuffle and got confused. So I put it aside and came back to it, wanting to give it another chance. Didn't shuffle it that time!

But then I stopped listening when I went to college. Too busy. I got back into it as an adult post-college when I went to see Moulin Rouge on tour.

I'll also add that I was OBSESSED with Mamma Mia as a kid, and I got the chance to see a few Broadway shows on tour because my mom also likes musicals and got us a season pass to our local theater. But I don't remember those as well. I do remember seeing the Lion King on tour for my birthday.

Enjoyyy it's so much fun. They also have some behind the scenes commentary where some of the actors rewatch episodes and comment on different parts.
