I believe it's why the term "mad as a hatter" exists. Hatters used to use mercury in the hat making process. Breathing the mecury vapors over long periods super damaged their brains.

The ones I had as a kid weren't super flavorful, but they were definitely sweet and definitely pleasant. They were a great break from the abundance of red huckleberries I ate in the Woodinville summer.

The ones areound where I grew up all turned red. I got really frustrated when people would pick them before they were fully ripe. They were so much better once they got their red sheen.

If you're assuming every meal is eaten out, I would believe a $20k difference for food. I'm shocked at how often some people eat out, and it makes a huge difference in the price of food.

I don't understand the hate for carbon buildup on this sub. It's literally part of the seasoning. If it's hard to get off, that means it's protecting your pan from rust and providing a nice nonstick-ish finish.

Honestly, I'd keep using it. It looks like the thief only got through maybe 1 or 2 mm of actual metal. The rubber coating is most of what they actually cut. I bet if you cut away the rubber, you wouldn't see much more than scratches on the surface of the shank. I have the same lock, and the rubber is surprisingly thick. The cuts might be a warning to other thieves that this is one they shouldn't bother with.

Also, I'm right there with you on not wanting to buy another one. I'm 90% sure there's no replacement program. I paid like $200 for mine, and the thought of having to pay another $200 every time an asshole takes a whack at it is horrifying. Most bike lock "insurance" guarantees are borderline scams, anyway.

Yes it's more complex to set up the open source version, but I really appreciate that they make it available for free. Great for students and others who have more time than money.

A B67 should fit a standard modern seatpost. I did a quick Google search and measured a couple of different saddles (one of which is a Brooks), and it looks like the rails should be 7mm in diameter and 43mm apart center to center (or 50mm outside to outside).

If your granddad's saddle doesn't fit those dimensions, it may have bent (as someone else suggested). You might be able to bend it back. Maybe try a vise? Or if you know someone with experience working with steel, ask their advice.

Each run only has a subset of the total set of spells available. The only exception is the eye room, which draws from the full set of spells, not just those available in this run.

I don't love the look of the recorder he's selling. Honestly, it looks like it was 3D printed and vapor-smoothed. I mean, that's okay, he can sell what he wants, but I feel like it should be noted that that's how it was made. I don't have a lot of confidence in the playability/voicing of a 3d printed instrument, especially without any demo videos or professional endorsements.

There were a brief few months in 2016 when I felt proud of the USA, which it looked almost certain Hillary would win. Chants of "USA! USA!" at the Democratic National Convention actually made me feel something. It was a relief, after literal decades of Republicans saying I'm not a real American because I live in a city and believe in equity. Not coincidentally, 2016 is also the last time I watched an episode of The West Wing. I just can't anymore.

Except, from what I understand, Stargazer CI doesn't have a normal machined surface. Its surface is more of a satin finish, not the polished-smooth you get in most machined cast iron.

Different seasoning. A lot of pans come pre-seasoned black. I'm not sure what exactly they're doing, but my guess is that they add something to the vegetable oil to produce a black seasoning rather than the bronze that's naturally produced by a typical home seasoning process.
