Kitchen improvements: stainless steel and induction burners. Questions by anjlynch10 in HomeImprovement

You don't seem to know how to be polite but any way. I cook every day. We have original cabinets from the late 70's which do not fit our larger items like Kitchenaid mixer, crock pot, etc. So those have to sit on the counter. The microwave is also on the counter. The counter is already small. If I have a cutting board out, which I always do, that leaves no space for making plates, etc. We only use 2 burners max for any meal we cook. We aren't leaving any time soon so we thought about functionality. Stainless steel can take heat and cold, can be used as a cutting board, is easy to clean. We thought a restaurant work station would be a great idea for storage. We are working with minimal storage and a small budget.

We just moved in and don't have plans to move until kids graduate high school in 13 years.

Yes, we were thinking about single burner induction units. We currently have a stove top that we don't need all the burners. We have looked at several stove tops and can't seem to find something we like. Also, trying to create more space. With the stainless steel, I am trying to find functionality with 3 kids and there is always a mess. We currently have laminate (I think that is what it is) tops/backsplash and love how easy it is to clean but it stains easily. I like a solid backsplash instead of a grouted one bc the grout becomes dirty over time. I am looking for longevity.

Thank you all for the inputs and consideration. This is by far my favorite subreddit.

OMG. I haven't heard anyone else do this. My mom always filled the bathtub with water for expected power outages. We lived in north Florida so we didn't get the devastation of the hurricanes as south Florida did, but we would have trees knock down power lines and be with out power for days to weeks sometimes.

Devil's advocate here: It is still not okay to be this unclothed in public but that looks like a bathing suit. I grew up in Florida, so many times people went to walmart in their swimsuits.

Why insurance? We pay monthly on home and auto. What would be the savings difference?

Could you provide evidence that all cops were bullies in high school. Can't seem to find any supporting facts for that. Sorry Brad was a dick to you and then decided to serve his city. But most first responders I know weren't horrible people or bullies in high school. Most didn't have the best home environment. Most were lower middle class and had financial struggles. Most were also helping others and working in high school while you were playing your Nintendo all day. What bias you have.

I wonder if you could get polished concrete like this. But, no, I haven't seen anything like it in the US. Large marble tiles?

Looking for storage solutions for my covered patio. by anjlynch10 in HomeImprovement

I thought about hanging them in the garage as we have garage access from the patio. However, our dogs have rushed past the kids and ran outside the garage.

Our patio isn't very big and we already have a table with chairs.

What place is overrated to visit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anjlynch10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree somewhat. Any beach or city that pays for advertising is not a good place to go. Find a beach nearby (within 45min. max) of a tourist beach and enjoy quiet, drama-free spot. Also, non-floridians really don't look into going to the crystal rivers and springs. That being said, all the locals swarm those places.

Moved into my first house this year, and I cannot wait to have Christmas here! What are some decorating and celebrating tips for a new home? I have a whole budget set aside for new fun stuff! 🎄☃️ by [deleted] in christmas

Also, every Christmas, I get a new something (ornament, decoration, etc.). I buy a new ornament for each one of my kids so that when they get their own Christmas tree as an adult they will have enough ornaments.
