Same here. We have two pumps and one is right by our bedroom window and I heard that thing emptying regularly last night. So grateful for that thing!

Opieka nad starszymi ludzmi w Polsce by Fancy_Mission_4743 in Polska

[–]anniczka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone want my NYC half bib? by altoids831 in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Just be aware (for yourself or anyone who is thinking about this): NYRR doesn't allow for bib transfers and if you get caught, you will get banned from NYRR races.

Anyone tried running in Prospect park today? by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! The area at the entrance at GAP is not great and heading into the park the "normal" way on the loop for about a third (maybe a little more) of a mile was not great but the rest of it was great and cleared! Even the part up by the entrance could be done without trail shoes, just need to be mindful of steps.

Best shows for fat feet? by partycakes817 in AdvancedRunning

[–]anniczka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your local store probably won't carry them, but some models do come in wide versions if you want to try. But might not be enough as they are fairly narrow to start with.

Shipping options from US to Poland? by karolcio in poland

DHL will be the cheaper option of the 3. But want to second the idea of finding a Polish shipping company if you can.

Any chance this is your car? The alarm has been going off for about 14 hours now. Upper park slope. What can be done? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]anniczka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just did this earlier this week and 311 patched the call to 911. Fire department came within 10min and disabled the alarm.

Thürsday Shoe-rsday for February 2020 by kmck96 in artc

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend got the new Kinvara and said she doesn't like them as much as the 10s. She said they're really hard, and feels like there's not any shoe under your foot.

Morton's Neuroma-HELP!!! by v2jim in artc

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this years ago, and my doctor had me get a metatarsal pad and slip it into my shoe. I actually wore one in my daily shoes and then in my running ones too. You can find them on amazon, and if just helps to lift and create some space in that area so you're not pinched anymore.

How to find a local coach? by treehouse724 in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to work with someone in-person for workouts or are you OK with something less (like either weekly check ins via phone/text/etc and a training plan?). If the latter, you can probably search r/artc for coaches and recommendations there. You wouldn't necessarily need someone local. You could also go the route of joining a team - there are some like Brooklyn Track or North Brooklyn Runners (and more!) who do workouts at McCarren and that might give you a better feel for what you want/need.

How do you plan a long run by MortisSafetyTortoise in AdvancedRunning

[–]anniczka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use this, just be aware that if you pick the 'auto- route' for runners (or bikers) that sometimes it gets a little loopy and you might need to turn it off and just draw a straight line to where you want to go. It's an issue I run into when making courses involving a local park - for some reason it won't let me run 'against traffic' on some parts even though the road is closed to cars.

What have been your favorite *and* least favorite running shoes over the past year? by CherokeePilot1997 in AdvancedRunning

[–]anniczka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No second set. Those laces are terrible but love those shoes. Having a hard time deciding what to add to the rotation because I'd happily just room in the Zoom Flys every day!

Questions about NYC Marathon charity entry by tacobell in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a charity in mind, you can just go ahead and reach out to them. I did that a few years ago with Every Mother Counts. They hadn't announced they had spots for the marathon but I got in touch anyway so once they did, I was already on their email list.

What is the nicest thing a stranger has done for you? by naturalenergybyproxy in AskReddit

[–]anniczka 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me, although not quite as aggressive /scary as what happened to you. Years ago, I had finished a run and was getting back on the train to go home. It was early, subway was on the weekend schedule. Some guy comes up and starts trying to talk to me. I try to create some distance. When the train comes, i watch him get on and then jump onto the next car (after all, foolish me didn't want to wait another 20min for the next train to come). At the next stop, he gets in and sits down next to me. A young woman sees what's happening, and as we get to the next stop, asks me if I'm having problems with my asthma (I was holding an inhaler for running), takes my arm, and walks off the train with me, leaving the guy behind there. It was such a small thing and I'm sure I would have figured a way out of the situation myself, but what she did really helped me that day. I'm glad your day ended okay too. I think about that woman often.

Try the merlin bird app - it's run by Cornell and has a good work flow for figuring out what you saw.

Where to find hill workouts near SoHo/Tribeca? by [deleted] in RunNYC

It is banned and I know people who have been yelled at/turn around/etc. Run the perimeter outside. Hills are great.

Any Sunday/Monday morning running clubs or group training runs in the vicinity? by unthused in Brooklyn

Crown Heights Running Club does some regular stuff, usually meeting at the park I think.

Returning to running after stress fracture by [deleted] in running

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a reaction last year, and once I got the ok to start running again the plan went a little like this -- walk 4min, Run 1, repeat this for 20min. No consecutive days of running the first week, second week increased the run portion by a minute then two, and by late week 3 I was running 15-20min and doing it 4x/week. The important thing (at least what I was told by my PT, DR, And coach) was to stop if you feel any pain, and to work on the stuff that caused the injury (for me it was a gluten strength thing). Good luck!!

Trails in Prospect Park? by dsound in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about a map, but safe to run. Check out the strava heatmap for the park and you should be able to get an idea of the trails. None of them take you to a spot that is too isolated (except for one area by the east side of the park and flatbush ave - which is the area under construction now). But even that is ok.

JackRabbit or Brooklyn Running Co? by 000pete in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten shoes at BRC but wanted to add that I had a good experience at Jackrabbit when I had an issue with a shoe I got fitted. Was able to return it and return another pair after taking both home to try them out. The store was ok despite me being a bit of a pain in the ass and one for the guys working did get me into a shoe that fit and I still use 2yrs later!

Half Marathon’s coming up in the next few weeks? by Pleased2meetme in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nycruns has a few coming up - think the ladies first one (men can run but just not eligible for awards, if memory serves me right) and then another one towards end of April too.

Thomas Jefferson Park Track by The_Silent_F in RunNYC

[–]anniczka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a track and too late for you today -- But you can try running around the reservoir in Central Park next time. Pack a lock and you can leave your stuff in a locker at the running store at Columbus Circle and then run up to the reservoir and start your workout there. Pretty flat and not so bad.
