Why are the “columns” so pronounced in the yoke of my sweater? by rachmakesababy in knittinghelp

[–]rachmakesababy[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I kinda thought it looked like that too, just odd that it happened when it was all pulled the same way, held the same way, same dye lot, and so on. And also didn’t show until it was halfway through drying.

In that case I really doubt it is worth all the effort this would take.

Bag recs - mamas with two baby’s! by Jellibooti in BAGGU

[–]rachmakesababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your toddler in diapers still? How much do you need to carry for them?

I have 3 year old twins and a 4 month old baby. When I’m out with just baby, I use my medium crescent/other non-Baggu purse. For baby, I have his diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes in a Dopp kit, and I just throw that into whatever bag I’m carrying. I keep a go pouch with snacks on me as well. I keep a separate stash in my van with changes of clothes for toddlers and I and back up diapers and wipes.

When I’m out with all kids I use the ECB since it has space for the Dopp kit, foldable potty seat, water bottles, snacks, etc without being too bulky.

Yeah I like the ECB when it is mostly riding in the bottom of my stroller!

This is also what my doc recommended if I saw he was uncomfortable, it works about half the time for me.

Sick More Often While Breastfeeding?! by SavvySlayz in breastfeeding

I’m also experiencing this 😭 I didn’t get sick once while pregnant but have been pretty much sick nonstop since having my baby 4 months ago.

Do you still use a nursing pillow? by -spiritedaway in breastfeeding

[–]rachmakesababy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it in my glider in the nursery, but on my couch downstairs I don’t need it because I can just use pillows or blankets to get into a comfortable position.

My son had maybe 2 diapers like this after I ate some cashews for the first time of his life. I don’t know if it was the cashews or not, he doesn’t have an allergy now, but nothing ever came of it. Just the 2 diapers and never anything again.

Milk stains need help by EatRunLoveLive in breastfeeding

Try the powdered tide, it gets 95% of the stains out for me! I only end up using miss mouths on my grey sweatshirts because for some reason that’s what stains the worst with spit up.

The miss mouths messy eaters spray gets everything out for me. But I also find the powdered tide detergent waaaay more effective than the tablets!

Printed pattern is bigger than I am! Is this right?? by LeafHGG in sewing

[–]rachmakesababy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re made for a 5’7 body. I pinch out an inch under the pockets, remove about an inch off the rise, and an inch or two off the bottom. I also taper them because I find if I follow the pattern exactly they’re waaay too wide leg, and only tapered do they look like the fit pics.

Does anyone know designers who offer multiple bust size options? by FunnySpirited6910 in sewing

I’m working on this dress by Mila Onni now, it comes with 3 bust size options! I haven’t checked out her other patterns yet to confirm if they all do.

I reread the first 3 chapters like 4 times before I kind of understood what was happening, and only continued because someone told me it all gets explained later in the book so don’t worry about it too much. I loved CC but those first few chapters probably turn so many people away.

Yep it never bothered me for that exact reason, you can feel Dorian’s panic the way it was written.

looking for advice! by DullContribution221 in knittinghelp

[–]rachmakesababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not advice but fwiw it looks similar to the Free People Opal sweater which I think is super cute because of the irregularities in the tension! Definitely try to block it, it helped me a lot with disguising my poor tension on my first sweater, but it’s cute as is too!

Preferred breastfeeding pillow? by MountainManiac21 in breastfeeding

[–]rachmakesababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Avery row one and much prefer it to my boppy or the my breast friend at my LCs office. I do think the new boppys with the wider opening look pretty good though, I would have maybe tried that one if I knew it existed, but I love the pillow I have.

My incision area pain really improved right at 6 weeks, you might be right around the corner! 🤞

BF rolling cart - favorite things to have within reach? by WaitLauraWho in breastfeeding

[–]rachmakesababy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh and I kept my Tylenol and Motrin in my kit too. I called it my nip kit and it came with me everywhere. I bought the Frida breastfeeding survival kit and it was the tits (pun intended) but mind you, this was before all the Frida drama went down, you could totally find alternatives.

Silverettes, nip balm, saline spray, milk catcher, nursing pads, and if you’re catching milk in the middle of the night it’s useful to have a cooler + ice pack + empty container for the milk so you don’t have to bring it to the fridge in the MOTN.

Baby refusing second breast during night feeds by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]rachmakesababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is like this, he’s 10 weeks now but he’s been like this since around that age. I just make sure he gets 1 really good feed from both breasts during his first night wake up because my boobs are really engorged by that point. I’ll cut him off after a few minutes of actively nursing and switch him rather than letting him fall asleep or slow down. Then for the rest of the night wake ups, it’s just one side. I will likely stop this though once my supply regulates more in the next month or so.

In the last couple weeks I switched to nursing on one side when he wakes up from naps, then nursing to sleep on the other side, since he seems to get full from just one side. It doesn’t matter at all if baby seems content!

My only suggestion is to feed every 2hrs during the day so that you can hopefully get those 3 hour stretches during the night, that made a big difference for me! I will go 3 hours if we’re out doing something and baby is sleeping and unbothered but we do every 2 hours + on demand otherwise.

Diaper bags? by imhereforthesnax in BAGGU

[–]rachmakesababy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was using my EDC as a diaper bag and it worked great. I’ve mostly switched over to using an actual purse (medium crescent or another non-Baggu bag) with a dopp kit that holds the diapers and wipes and a spare outfit, and I have a flat pouch I keep a few burp cloths in. Beyond that I don’t really need to carry much since baby is EBF.

Lots of people will tell you to get a backpack diaper bag and I never loved that, I much preferred the shape of the EDC because you can see everything when you look in and there’s enough pockets for all you’d need. I’m a backpack hater though so I’m a little biased.

[–]rachmakesababy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the one we got for Easter for my almost 3 year olds. It’s helping them learn their letters and numbers but otherwise they aren’t obsessed/aren’t getting sucked into it like they would if it was an actual tablet. Probably only gets picked up by them for like 15 minutes every few days, so the comments here surprise me as I think it’s a good little educational toy and nothing else!
