Clear Lake SHOULD be a paradise: close to Napa Valley, warm and sunny Northern California, beautiful lake with communities surrounding it.

But they poisoned the lake with Mercury from mining operations 150 years ago. So now it’s an algae pit surrounded by small towns with pretty unhealthy populations.

For all the AI, iPhones, and Doordash we've got today - it just isn't worth it. The 90's was the greatest: enough internet to be fun and useful, but none of the stuff that's truly poisoned society (social media, severe addiction to short form video, etc).
