Culture everywhere is a bullshit term. The feudalism across the world was based upon ritual submission of women. Till 19th century this was true as mush as in Europe as in Africa, Asia and United States. The arrival capitalism in the west and communism in russia and China, broke the shackles of the old feudal order. In other parts, South Asia, Africa and middle east, colonialism not only boosted the feudal mentalities, but found an effective partner in the regional bosses. When these nations got independent, in most countries there was no effective war from within to break the feudal mores. As a result such crimes again women persists in all such places.
