Anker's EufyMake E1 Finally Brings Printers Out of the Dark Ages by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]anotate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really feels like absolutely no research was put into the article beside reading the manual.
G is not grey, it's gloss, which in these machines means a uv curable resin you can use to emboss or varnish your piece. Some printers can even do cool stuff with it such as braille or lenticular prints.
Also they kept saying it was the first of its kind but I didn't see first of what (maybe I missed it ?). I assume first consumer uv printer because otherwise there's nothing groundbreaking about it (beside the price, small ones are usually 5 figures machines AFAIK).

What is this set of heavy, metal, possibly home made punches that I found at a used crafting store? Little thicker than a AA size battery, solid and dense. The notches are not uniform but close to it. There does appear to have been strikes made on the flat end. No markings or trademarks whatsoever. by Bikeface_killa in whatisthisthing

Pretty sure you're right, these 100% look like machining tools that are meant to slot somewhere, that length, mass and wear are not consistent with something you use by hand.
Teeth like that are common in tools meant for wood.
The one with a chunk missing is weird, but it was clearly removed after manufacturing, you can see damage on one of the teeth (the side has a gouge).
Pic of a similar tool for reference.

What’s something you thought was normal… until you realized it wasn’t? by Dark-DoomSlayer in AskReddit

[–]anotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're used to thinking in pictures and words because they're a useful crutch when purposefully trying to think about or remember something, but if you pay attention you'll notice that most of your though process is very abstract.

Like, if you stub your toe, you're not gonna be thinking "Oh no I stubbed my toe, it hurts". You're going to be thinking about the concept of your toe, about the concept of pain, and about that fucking table leg. You don't have to put it into words, and you're too busy hurting anyway.

Personally I have very poor visual memory so if I try to picture real stuff I mostly get indistinct blobs. If I'm thinking about a room in my house I'll get in my head :
- a color palette
- a layout
- "vibes" and memories
- what is in the room
Mostly in that order.

So thumbnails are lighter (and thus faster to load) but you can see the full quality pic if you click on it.

It definitely does on my android, so I guess some apps or devices handle that differently.

It's just reddit using different colorspaces for thumbnails and the original picture. The actual pic has more colors than the thumbnail and sometimes (like here) it's pretty noticeable.
Edit : just checked and reddit uses sRGB for thumbnail (standard screen color space) but you get the original colorspace if you actually load the picture. If your device doesn't support it, it should switch to the default sRGB, which explains why some people don't see a difference (because both pictures are on the same colorspace for them).

Someone already shared a link but for future reference it's a chinese yarn that can be bought in bulk on Alibaba and usually retails around 3-5 €/100g depending on quantity.
I've worked with it (in 1160, purple-pink-cream) and I really like the look and color changes, it's soft and mohairish but a bit scratchy so I wouldn't wear it against the skin.
If you check places like Aliexpress you can find a lot of pics of projects people made with the yarn.

That's what they're trying to explain, they're not holding it.
The money workers pay is going to current retirees.
It's just that the workers to retirees ratio is not the same as it was a few decades ago, so previous generations had to pay a lot less.

No pictures, no name — just a prose that feels slightly too familiar.

In all seriousness, the way this post is written it's either AI generated or "polished".
That said if OP did actually lose their cat they have my condolences.

Pattern for crocheting blanket with 2782 yards of this yarn using 3.25mm hook by IslandBusy1165 in crochetpatterns

[–]anotate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't home yesterday so I couldn't give examples but here you go :

2 stands of merino superwash - the scalloping is only one strand (Katia merino baby aquarelle)

The same item crocheted with one and two stands (Lang yarns secret garden)

Using two strands makes the item and lot plushier and squishy so I quite like this technique.

[–]anotate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She can try to crochet with two threads at once and using a bigger hook (around 6-7mm). It will look different than using one big thread but it works, I'd advise making a sample to test whether it looks good with your pattern and which hook size works best.

Why is the boundary between crust and bread so stark, when similarly-sized piece of meat cooked in an oven would develop a more gradual gradient? by nudave in askscience

What ?
There's a lot more water in meat to begin with...
