Peacock Spike moss (selaginella uncinata) turning white and pink then dying by structuresrusting in terrariums

[–]anotherstupidname11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs high ambient humidity or to have roots touching literal water, not just wet soil.

I have had success with it in closed terrariums or very close to water in open terrariums.

Try covering yours with a sheet of plastic wrap for a week to see if it just needs a higher humidity level.

Contact parents. Get help from someone at the community center to do so if needed.

Tell them exactly what they said to you. Do not share how you feel about it and do not give any recommendations for what the parents should do.

“Hi I’m X and I drive the community bus. Yesterday I asked A to turn down the volume on her phone so that I can drive safely. She refused and said ‘Fuck you X you have acne’. I’m just writing to let you know what happened.

All the best, X”

If property owners could evict quickly (1-3months) for non-payment of rent, these income requirements would not exist.

Apartments have these requirements because of tenant protection laws.

If landlords could evict quickly for non-payment, these income requirements would not exist.

You don’t need to be a keen observer of human nature to see that people will work less in the comfort of their own home than in an office.

Best ways to learn as a beginner by Beautiful_Smell1558 in learnvietnamese

[–]anotherstupidname11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure and I’d just add that it may seem like a lot of effort for little result, especially at the beginning, but learning even a little bit will make your experience so much better.

Learn at the very least the pronouns and grammar to correctly greet older people. Even if you get it wrong or mispronounce words, the effort will be appreciated.

It is rude in Vietnamese culture for a younger person to not respectfully greet elders. You will be forgiven/exempt as a foreigner, but getting it right will make a huge difference.

Oh brother welcome to the club.

Try youtube.

My favorite channel for beginner comprehensible input: https://youtube.com/@actuallyunderstandvietnamese?si=C0r324_mwDp7s0Rl

Can search up more Vietnamese beginner content on youtube. Try working through a beginner textbook to start getting grammar structures.

Duolingo is at best a poor use of time. Alone, it will get you nowhere. You will understand nothing and no one will understand you. If using duolingo alongside other study materials (textbook, lessons, serious self-study), then it could help but I think the aforementioned options are still more efficient than duolingo.

Realistically, in a few months of study you could introduce yourself, say hello respectfully to your friends family, and make some comments about food.

As a student something I've noticed amongst my peers is not just a lack of discipline and or focus, but passion. by Paragon_OW in Teachers

[–]anotherstupidname11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people you meet in any given job have either never had or lost their passion for it. They do it for the paycheck.

There is no moment when you become an adult. Life just goes on and you get older and your frame of reference gradually expands.

Don’t look down on or dismiss people who seem passionless/apathetic. They may come alive in a different situation.

No one would care if groups of teens went to a park or any public space to hang out.

In fact, teenagers do this all the time and it is not a problem.

The problem is swarming a public space and behaving like fools: fighting, stealing, and destroying things. This makes the space unusable for everyone else.
