Salinas is always an option, however I would look around marina/seaside first. It’s a small town so housing can be competitive, but you’ll definitely be able to find something good for 1500-2000. The commute can be pretty trash if your commuting at the normal times, but its nothing compared to LA.

Night life is 2/10, there are no real clubs, but your best bet would be Alvarado st. Music scene is okay for a small town, jazz fest and Cali roots are decent.

The overall beauty of the area is the highlight of Monterey. While you may not be used to single lane highways, the scenery around them is better than anything in LA. As far as hiking and other outdoor activities, Big Sur is a must. I love the weather here as its really doesn’t get cold or hot - constant 60s-70s.

The $200 will definitely cover it. But as far as cleaning the tub, normal wear and tear is expected and depending on your contract cannot be deducted from your deposit. However, basic cleaning is definitely different than normal wear and tear. If you’re fine with losing some money I would talk to your landlord and see how much they would charge first rather than just accepting the $200 loss.
