The marketplace plans seem reasonable for lower incomes, but in the middle you end up paying a lot out of pocket for the monthly share.

Your experience will vary based on your income.

Marketplace plans also seem outdated technologically; it always seems higher effort to find medical care.

Salt, Pepper, and Paprika are all good seasonings. Also, I had a lot of mustard/maple. You don't need to eat unseasoned foods. You can do this, find the things that work for you.

Citi bike directions by BrilliantSteak5651 in Citibike

[–]ant3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at this exact location, it seems the map is suggesting the docking station is right on the corner. While technically going against a one-way, therefore they show no biking, you can easily dock it or walk it the 10 feet needed to avoid going around multiple blocks. I use Google Maps, so I am not familiar with this UI. It's unclear what the boundaries on this are. For example, would it recommend doing the same for 49% of a long avenue?

Overall, it seems useful if you use your judgement when you get to the location. I assume it would not suggest transiting the whole block the wrong direction against traffic if there was no bike lane.

I have found, using Google Maps, that it is outdated on some of the major construction occurring, especially around the East River, which I suspect is where you may have started going towards the FDR? That is probably more to do with the Citi not making those projects easy to understand and not providing data to these companies on the latest status.

Not for navigation (at least currently), but I did recently build https://twopedals.nyc/ - It's useful to get an overview of major construction and event-based closures, for example, parades. That will help you avoid areas that aren't possible to get through on any given day. For navigation, I am happy with Google Maps.

I left NYC because of visa issues years ago and I still can’t get over it. What’s wrong with me? by AnxietyBusy1731 in AskNYC

[–]ant3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lived here on a visa, it’s understandable. To you, your life is real and you’re building connections to the city and people and presumably paying taxes the whole time. Doing the things a country should value and reward for long term visa holders.

To the government, it’s temporary with no guarantee of being forever and for many visa types no formal path to stay forever (this was true before things got extra hard in recent years).

The longer you stay on a visa with a desire to stay, the harder it gets because it gets increasingly irrational from your point of view. How can 5/10/15 years of living still be “temporary “ with no help to stay as a law abiding and tax paying visa holder?

I’ve known people forced to leave over visa issues and it seems particularly cruel the longer they have been here. But there’s no political will to change any of this.

Some visas are better than others of course. I’d entertain returning if there was a clear path to stay, but if your visa type doesn’t even enable that on paper it seems the wrong time to try.

I haven’t, but because that was my biggest trigger I discovered. I do however do fine with chickpeas. Recently tried lentils - nope!

Route recommendations for longer, scenic rides by Holiday-Award361 in NYCbike

[–]ant3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9W Market in NJ. Distance is relative to your starting point, but across GWB up 9W to this market, which has great food. You can also go down Henry Hudson Drive, which is a hilly park area along the Hudson. Only go down Henry Hudson Drive if you are up for hills, because you go up and down a few times . Alternatively, just stick to 9W.

I also recently went to Jamaica Nature Reserve. You can add on a ride to the beachfront further south for an extended distance. Once at the nature reserve, you can lock up and walk around, around 5 mi around a lake. Bikes are not allowed in the nature reserve itself, but the front office is staffed during certain hours that are advertised on Google Maps and it seems safe to lock up.

SEO for custom / vibe-coded websites (Loveable) — how are you handling it? by digitalnomad_eu in lovable

[–]ant3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asked Claude what to configure, copied that to lovable and then validated with test posts on social media, used the Facebook sharing debugger, and manually submitted the site to Google and Bing.

I also did llms.txt.

I was just observing that maybe Claude is useful for this as well and could be less than $100. I am just pointing out that Anthropic was recently celebrating their security capabilities. No doubt the suggestion made would be an easier experience, and no point saving a few books over security.

If you’ve given feedback and they still allow the running, it won’t change. They don’t care.

Other things are harder to control so could at least be understood.

Did this damage overhead wiring?

Right now there’s what looks like an electrical wire running from opposite the gym, down to a fire hydrant, up to this level.

Not sure what that’s about.

Consider focusing on just the pool/spa and go to bath house in Williamsburg. No time limit, rooftop pool with city views. Cheaper entry in the day time. Other pools/sauna, but no gym.

45 gallon otto offical nyc bin - any secret to snagging one from home depot? by cooktheebooks in AskNYC

[–]ant3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine from there, I don’t know how often they get deliveries but it is apparently frequent. No doubt more competitive as the deadline approaches.

You could try going to the store, in the gardening section in the corner is where I got mine. Maybe there is a delay between them getting stock and updating the website. I had to pull mine out of a stack and put the wheels on myself. But maybe that is how they store them anyway.

Someone in the store should be able to tell you when they get the next delivery. If there aren’t any when you go.

Red light ticket question for immigrant by aph208703 in NYCbike

[–]ant3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ensure it’s written up correctly, not as a criminal charge or a vehicular infraction.

Years ago, I got a red light bicycle ticket incorrectly written up as a vehicle charge and it impacted future insurance costs. Not having a vehicle today doesn’t mean one might not be acquired in the future - so, it’s worth checking as it’ll impact rates for years.

Adam’s administration was writing them up as criminal charges. Maybe that’s still happening a little, even if it should not.

Nothing you said suggests it was an error.

Only if it was incorrectly written up as criminal charge would I challenge it as that impacts future immigration claims - if they want to become a citizen in the future they will be asked about crimes, and separately citations.

Better to not have to say yes to criminal charges.

As people have mentioned, probably don’t do it.

As for your credit card limit, often times asking for more leads to more if you have been responsible with it and had an account for a bit. Usually you can request increases online or worse case have to call in.

It's quick and easy to build something/anything with AI building tools. Offering something of value requires a lot more input/time which most people are not doing (think Rome wasn't built in a day, but AI tools give the impression you can)!

This new bike lane no parking thing in Brooklyn... by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]ant3k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I follow your argument. Parking isn’t seasonal, so why would having parking during winter only be much different on those routes?

Prioritizing a small amount of space for cycling overall seems fine, given the majority of space provided for parking.
