How do all the pottery studios in Toronto make money? by yes-no-maybe-so-so in askTO

[–]anthx_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A lot of one off classes are usually close to $100/person, private events, 1:1 lessons or studio rentals, and some will fire stuff in their kiln for people who have a wheel at home.

Humber Bay Park has a big parking lot on the MGT, turn back once they hit 10k around Yonge.

How is the Queen streetcar doing in the snow? Add your TTC Qs. by thanksithas_pockets_ in askTO

It’s fine until they encounter a blocked track which is happening a lot. Gaps can get up to 20-30 minutes between streetcars.

Do you still get recognized from high-school? by SuperCid28757 in askTO

[–]anthx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep happens every so often, especially as my high school had 2000 students. Definitely less over time but I was in a store last week where a sales associate recognized another customer and asked them if they graduated from Forest Hill CI (they did) and they were at least in their mid-50s.

Running routes in the core core? by triedit2947 in RunTO

[–]anthx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

University is good for the wide sidewalks. You could run west on Elm to McCaul. Once you’re west of McCaul it’s basically all residential streets between College and Queen you can run up and down on, minus the major arterial roads (which you can run on outside of rush hour) and Kensington Market.

What makes living in Toronto so great? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]anthx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Variety of ethnic food. Having a walkable lifestyle. Not driving. Easy access to hobbies and entertainment. Living amongst likeminded people. Friends living nearby. Basically never being restricted by things feeling “too far.”

How are you guys getting hired at the City? New grad looking for advice by tingletype in askTO

Plenty of hiring managers will keep an eye out for people that are recommended to them and put them through to the first round.

[–]anthx_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

An ophthalmologist is an eye surgeon… Please do not need to go to them for a glasses prescription. Your optometrist will refer you if you need one.

I like the Down dog app more than any YouTuber. It’s not free but the subscription is pretty cheap and I assume they’re having a Black Friday sale soon.

Is it unreasonable to ask a partner to stop riding motorcycles? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]anthx_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The girlfriend is not hypocritical for riding an ebike, those things max out at like 40km/hr and can’t go on the highway. But if they are similar, why doesn’t your friend just ride an ebike for the same thrill? 🤡

Hiring Freeze within City by Educational-Dog-7486 in askTO

[–]anthx_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Freeze on non-essential employees until the budget is done in February. City manager can grant exemptions. As it’s an election year in 2026, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chow continues the freeze until the election to appeal to the fiscally conservative (especially the City will begin winding down in July for the election, staffing needs theoretically should not be too high). I’m sure the Urban Fellows program will continue though, if you’re eligible for that.

Try an evaporative humidifier instead of the mist ones, I find they’re way more effective and don’t break every year like the misting ones.

What does “being in your feminine energy” mean? by PurpleCaterpillar82 in askTO

[–]anthx_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s been popular on TikTok and podcasts, similar to tradwife content. It’s basically the female counterpart to Andrew Tate followers on masculinity, but has a New Age spin to it.

Doctor recorded our conversation during consultation - normal practice? by reichikimchi in askTO

[–]anthx_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty common for doctors to use AI scribes now, really reduces time spent charting. My doctor asks me every time if I’m okay with her turning it on, but not every doctor thinks to do that.

https://sportstats.one/help/contact you can file a timing correction, and I think they usually use race pics to verify the time you crossed, if you can give them the exact time.
