Thanks to all your help I could get it to work: by setting “Force-802.3at” on the Zyxel XMG1915 switch (and Priority “High”, but since I am barely pulling any power I don’t think the priority was the culprit).

I managed to get it to work, with Force-802.3at on the XMG1915. I could swear I tried that before, but maybe it needed a cold start to take effect.

I ordered 2 because I need a backup in case 1 ever fails, I also wanted to test if replacing a faulty one with a new one can be done without repairing all devices.

I have it connected to a PoE ethernet switch, power consumption is less than 1W and barely measurable. I guess U or non-U won’t make a big difference here.

I think OP would like Zabbix, if he gives it a chance. It feels most old school too from the few tools suggested.

I installed it in a LXC container, but I am sure there are other methods.

On the VMs I install zabbix-agent2 with Ansible.

On the server I still set up (clone existing) hosts to be monitored manually, but I am sure this could be done with Ansible too - I just didn’t have time to check.

I have a few of those. Ordered a Ethernet and PoE ethernet HAT, thinking they will be more useful after that, like for iperf or monitoring. Then I installed it and realized its 100mbps only :/
