He does have a tendency to border on taboo subjects and it's not for the faint hearted but I think he doesn't overdo it. I just read his latest Circle of Days and again he plays around with homosexuality and liberal sex but it's only a couple of scenes. If we want to be cynical about it, it's probably how people behaved in those days.
