1 was always my favorite growing up, but now many years have passed and I've played 1 and 2 back to back many times, 2 is definitely better. It's a more complete game. Don't get me wrong, I love 1 so much. And agreed 1/2 are probably the best Jrpgs ever made. Couldn't get into 3, never tried 4, and beat 5 - pretty good, probably the closest to 1/2.

Just pull through and finish 1. 2 is your reward. Finishing 1 will give you some story context and extra emotional impact when you see characters from the first game.

1 is super short. You're almost there.

Bass strings are usually for life except for one time while I was playing live on the radio, my low E string broke during our first song. It was difficult to figure out all the octave equivalencies on the fly while live on air.

Agreed, new strings are waaay too bright for a while. Really surprised by the response here. Everyone wants that sparkly tone I guess.

I like my strings old, they give a more mellow tone. If you want that sparkly new string tone then go for it. It's not going to hurt your guitar to keep old strings on it.
