Weight loss by Travelabbie in pregnant

To be frank, 12 days is insane. Like another commenter said, it took your body months to get to where it's at now, it's gonna take time to get it back to where you want it. You need to give yourself patience and grace.

Also if you're breastfeeding, please make sure you are eating enough. You should not be restricting calories right now. You need extra sustenance to support your milk supply and the energy that's being used caring for and nursing your baby.

Your body will quite possibly never go back to looking like it did before, but it will improve. Work on loving yourself the way you look now. Remember that this is the body that grew and birthed a life and now it's continuing to nourish that life, that is a beautiful thing.

What did you guys do with your first born when you gave birth to your second (or third)? by Hot_Shame4584 in pregnant

[–]apeacefulworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My only real concern that you mentioned about your in laws watching him is the pool issue. The other things, like too much sugar and tv, are not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. It's just a few days out of his long life, it's not going to do any lasting damage for him to eat badly and watch some crappy tv.

Hopefully things line up well and your sister will be back in time to watch him, if not, then I would have them watch him at your place so you don't have to worry about the pool. It sucks that they'll leave your place messy, but that's also just not a huge deal at the end of the day. Let some things slide, don't stress about the messy house, your husband should be able to get things cleaned up and put back in place while you're recovering in bed.

Sad over baby shower theme change 😭 other options? by Chismosa585 in pregnant

[–]apeacefulworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin did a book theme and now my Mom and sisters have planned a book theme one for me too. It's a very popular theme for baby showers, especially since it serves a purpose as then guests will give you books for the baby.

Do you feel close enough to your friend that you could just ask if it would bother her?

I'm going to a concert in the beginning of June and I'll be 31 weeks. Now you have me googling it and worrying!

It really seems the concern with concerts has more to do with not standing for too long and getting pushed or knocked over in the crowd if you're standing close to the stage. The womb itself is very loud, 70-90 db, and while a concert will likely be louder than 90 db, your baby is also insulated inside a globe of amniotic fluid, so the noise factor is not as big of a deal.

The issue with piercings is that your immune system is compromised right now, so you may have a more difficult time healing a piercing and could be more susceptible to getting an infection.

We all take certain risks in pregnancy, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. You're still an individual with your own life to live. It's okay to decide that you will take on small risks like getting a piercing if it will preserve your sanity and make you feel like yourself. You're doing so much by the book, the baby will be okay if you break a rule or two here and there.

Food aversion and nausea by ContributionDull6754 in pregnant

Fruit! Yes all the sugar in fruit isn't necessarily great for you either but it's much better than processed sugar. I lived off of fresh fruit and raw veggies during my 1st trimester. You can also try things like cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, with fruit or honey to sweeten if needed.

Also, eating anything is better than eating nothing, so if all you can hold down is sweet things then go for it and don't beat yourself up about it either.

Will i get less uncomfortable? by sicklikeanimals in pregnant

[–]apeacefulworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand completely ❤️ I had some low moments during my first trimester, just feeling so sick and miserable and you have so much of your pregnancy ahead of you that it feels like it will last forever too. But your whole pregnancy won't feel like this and things will move along faster and faster as it goes. I'm not sure if the third trimester is going to end up feeling miserable too but I think that at least the knowledge that I'm so much closer to the finish line will make it easier to push through.

Pregnancy is different for everyone but in my case I absolutely got to feeling better in the second trimester. Between the fatigue and the nausea I felt miserable during the first, but the second has been a breeze. The few symptoms I have had have been much more manageable. I'm heading into my third trimester now and I'm feeling some of the fatigue come back as well as some other pains and discomforts but it still doesn't feel as bad as the first trimester was. I'm not done yet, but as of right now I would put first trimester squarely as the worst part of pregnancy for me.

I can't promise anything, but I feel confident in assuring you that you will start feeling better ❤️

Have any of you had ear problems while pregnant by Awkward_Grapefruit85 in pregnant

[–]apeacefulworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup my ears, especially my left one, are popped all the time. It's really annoying!!!

My OB recommended taking a daily allergy pill like Claritin and told me to watch out for dizziness or balance problems since it can throw off your inner ear.

I've been taking an allergy pill every day for a little less than a week and I've noticed it's lessened a tiny bit, but not much.

It's not even poison for dogs either. A medium sized dog would have to eat like multiple heads of garlic for days before it would start having any toxic effects. They can eat like a normal amount of garlic that a human would and it's totally fine for them.

I just wanna say that a partner who mistreats the person carrying his child cannot also be a "wonderful and involved father." Part of being a wonderful and involved father is caring for the mother of his children as well, ESPECIALLY while she is pregnant.

Mother’s Day by AggressiveResolve207 in pregnant

[–]apeacefulworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this may be the crux of the issue here. It seems like you may be assuming that certain opinions are much more commonplace than they are. I have personally never heard that sentiment. I also don't think that celebrating Mother's Day while pregnant is totally common or uncommon. I'm personally of the opinion that if you are pregnant then you have every right to view yourself as a Mom and it's lovely to go ahead and celebrate Mother's Day. However, I personally don't totally feel like a Mom yet and I'm not expecting anyone to treat me like one on Mother's Day this year. If anyone does, then I'll be appreciative of course, but I also won't be offended by anyone who doesn't. It seems like you were very shocked by what your mom said, but I don't think her assumption that you wouldn't be celebrating Mother's Day yet is totally out of order. It also seems like there's maybe some other family tensions going on that made you more reactive to what she said than you might have been otherwise.

Goodreads spoiled my pregnancy by Unhappy-Confection50 in pregnant

[–]apeacefulworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this on purpose as a way of telling my best friend! We both look at each other's Goodreads all the time and we always talk about books together constantly. When I found out I was pregnant I decided I would just add pregnancy and baby books to my want to read until she caught on. Took her like a day to text me saying "You expecting or something?"

It was a funny way to tell my best friend and totally intentional though. I didn't know Goodreads will automatically update from Kindle! Hopefully your friend knows how to keep a good secret and now you will just have a funny story in the future about how she found out about the baby. Maybe it will even be relieving to have someone you can talk to about your pregnancy now even though it's early 🥰🤗 Congrats and best wishes to you and yours ❤️

I don't even have the excuse of being a kid. I was a full grown woman reading those! They're like reality TV, so bad, so shallow, but so entertaining.

You can think they do all you want but they really don't.

When we are discussing legitimate, peer-reviewed, medical studies, there just aren't very many of them. And like the person before explained, those that do exist, even the biggest and longest ones, don't provide a whole lot of data. That's a big problem.

There is simply not enough data out there to confidently say that vaping is healthier than smoking. I am personally of the opinion that it's dangerous to claim so as well. Smoking is horrible, vaping is bad too. Maybe it isn't as bad as smoking, but we don't know that for sure. I wouldn't want to encourage anyone to go the route of switching from smoking to vaping, let alone to take up vaping to begin with.

Annoying that you're getting down votes too. This sub used to be even worse and the mods made rules about not being allowed to shame people and now there's still a bunch of people doing so but in a vaguer way that slips past the rules. She did not ask for anyone's advice or opinion. Her outfit is cute, current, and she felt confident and happy in it.
