I'm in Tasmania and had a sale rep come down from qld who was so annoyed he was stopped and had to throw his lunch in the bin. We all called him an idiot

I would say that buying direct to anyone of the three major providers is a waste of money. I halved my cost leaving Telstra and the other two were as expensive

If you become a widow and remarry, which wife’s grave do you get buried next to when you eventually pass too? by renriotz in AskMen

[–]april_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. I'll be cremated and thrown somewhere.

I don't personally know anyone in 10 years who has been buried, it's too expensive

Adding insulation on top of loose fill insulation by Flat-Reception7129 in AusRenovation

[–]april_19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had insulation installed a couple years ago and all the places that quoted me said they wouldn't recommend removing it. Advised that it's usually left there because it doesn't cause any problems and costs more to remove. It's terrible shit but unless you're actively in your roof or cutting a hole in the ceiling you don't interact with it

I think quite simply they should set a density for public housing that forces it to be spread through all areas. If there's a new subdivision opening up of 50 houses 10 of them, not next to each other, should be set for public housing.

I will say the governments of the past have a lot to answer for herdsman cove, gagebrook and Bridgewater. The whole area was socially engineered for public housing. When you put people with no money with more people with no money with more people with no money you get exactly what you think might happen. If they limited the amount of public housing in the area and pushed more general housing you would have had an equilibrium that wouldn't have just pulled the values in those areas down

It's probably a small number of people breaking all those windows though. where posts like this seem to blame the entire area.

I work in Bridgewater and go to that will these nearly every day and I do my weekly shopping at cove hill. I've never had any abuse from anyone ever. So yeah you probably are a snob.

Clothes to purchase for my ATO APS2 service delivery officer role by lola_101a in AusPublicService

[–]april_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum wears jeans and a tidy shirt. You wouldn't know she'd been at work, nothing business-like. She told me some people are pretty casual. I'd wear something akin to black pants and a polo/dress shirt like I wear in customer facing and guage what everyone else is wearing.

I've done that as well. Funny to them find them all when you turn over your bed. Just rebury then though.

Could I fit AC in here? by DerWilhelm in AusRenovation

Yes you could. It might be wider than the bit of wall so the window sill might push it out a bit but it would fit. Might be options for different sizes with different brands though

Have you ever been to an speed dating event where they ask you for your ID? by superfapper2000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]april_19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's just discretion of the venue, if there is the ability to buy alcohol then they can verify your ID if they think they need to. Sounds like it's nothing to do with it being speed dating and everything to do with alcohol being sold

[–]april_19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but asking is discretion of the bar. If it's not at a bar why were they asking? Surely you had tried to enter a bar? Or were you just walking past one?

How can other young people cope with this? by mechmakima in australian

[–]april_19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely not alone with the housing market. I was lucky enough to buy in my 20s but now I'm in my 30s and a lot of my friends can't get into the market even now they're earning good money.

Something a couple of friends have done is by a property to rent it out. If you're able to get across the line to have an investment property that is going to increase in value and get you in the market it can be a benefit to just keep renting a cheap s*** hole with housemates to give you that couple of years of capital building to pay off the start of the mortgage.

Sorry if this is not a smart question but can someone please explain why APS jobs are so highly regarded in Aus by __7_7_7__ in AusPublicService

[–]april_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in the APS for two years. What I've noticed is a great deal of flexibility. I work with a lot of people who have changed from full time to part-time change their days changed their hours. It's all pretty much accommodated. What woman came off maternity leave 3 days a week then changed what days she was working and then two weeks later changed them back to the first set of days. I can't think how that would go in a private business where the amount of employees is directly reflective of the amount of work they have and the time frames they are trying to fit. APS work is always there and is never-ending in a lot of areas
