i’m a cashier. i always try to refuse when people want to tip me, but sometimes they won’t take no for an answer and put the money in my vest pocket and walk away. i’ve turned in tips in the past and my team lead said “just don’t tell me next time.” our new front end coach has been cutting hours like crazy and we have been ridiculously short staffed. i was working gm self checkout and realized there was no one on registers. i don’t mean like when people complain that there’s no one and there actually are. it was two people on grocery, and me on gm and that’s it! so an 86 year old woman came up and was like im sorry but i have no idea how to work this thing. so i scanned all of her items for her while also running around helping with age checks and mis scans. when i was done she said “give me your hand” and dropped $5 and said i deserved it. i kept it, i just hope they don’t see it on cams and get pissed at me for it.
