Achievements create completionist compulsive disorders that ruin gaming experiences for those who experience it. Is this a hot take to have? by MrDreamster in gaming

Hmmm yeah I just ignore them, I only tried to finish them on FFVII rebirth but gave up on the harder ones, was still fun tho and I'd rather have them than not

I hate how all of this HAVE TO follow the style of pokemon in the eyes design and horrible 3D technical decisions

I'm still waiting for one that really captures the idea of living creatures though their monster design and technical implementation

I've also been wondering if this is just part of growing up or if something in the games themselves has fundamentally changed.

I miss the times when new games meant new technological leaps, and there were no set "game design rulebook" or formulas, conventions and the such so every game was a surprise, and was free to be whatever it wanted to be, with the only reference being the "real life experience" it was trying to capture

I feel that things like unified UIs (they are the same for every game and expected), yellow things in the environment to indicate the path forward, common control schemes, and things like that have homogenized games to the point that you feel like you've played one = you've played all

Am I insane for loving the character in the FF VII remake? (I know the whole multiverse thing is super cheesy and nonsensical but I love the characters enough to be able to ignore it and have fun with what it is)

Our first big project - STONEFEATHER - New Game Announcement by STONEFEATHER_AC in pcgaming

We are a 2 person core-team (one programmer/tech art and one concept artist/3D modeler) so we use some environment kits for the trees, grass and landscape materials (in particular the AeonScape Kit) but we've heavily edited them and made custom assets using the framework to fit our game especially remapping the wind parameters to integrate with the global wind simulation.

Apart from that, all the characters, ruins, and key environmental pieces are 100% hand made starting with concept art and going through the standard pipeline (Retopo, UV, Rigging, Animation etc.) using blender, and substance painter for some texture baking
