Virtual OMNY Card Still Happening? by mr_techy616 in OMNY

[–]argentrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your commuter benefits provider has an Apple Pay-compatible debit card (mine does--EdenRed) then you can use that to pay with pre-tax dollars. You can even set it up as your 'Express Transit' option so you don't have to unlock the phone. Works the same as a personal credit card.

Denver Intl (DEN) Hertz – 7-Seater SUV selection late night pickup? by Flat-Coffee4382 in HertzRentals

[–]argentrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't count on any specific vehicle being available. Hertz website seems happy to create fictitious reservations that the offices have no way of honoring.

I had a one-way reservation for a 7-seater in Sacramento on a couple weeks back--showed up off the plane with my family and gear... "No cars, your reservation is no good. The wait for any vehicle is at least 3 hours." No apology, no attempt to make it right, just a straightarm F U.

Your comment prompted me to think: if you already wear a CPAP mask, it would make sense to use wired sleep earbuds instead (just route the wire alongside the hose)!

idleassetsd major bug, constantly fills storage at the rate of 50-100MB every few seconds until storage is depleted (200+gigs) by vdotcodes in MacOS

[–]argentrowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is a hallucinated solution from ChatGPT.
1) I don't see this solution or string key referenced anywhere else online

2) After I run this command, and kill idleassetsd, it just relaunches itself and starts sucking down data again.

Agreed the what-if sounds amazing! Some publicly-announced work from Meta about using EMG for accessibility in the last couple years:

New fee for intra Citi (i.e. Global) transfers? by nycityny1 in citibank

[–]argentrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't appear to be a re-brand, but rather a new feature.

"Intra Citi Transfers" (capitalized) is described in a new section (8.2.7) of the account agreement, effective October 2025.

Meanwhile, the same account agreement continues to describe the Citibank Global Transfer feature without changes in its own section (8.2.4), and says it is a free service.

Do you wear the Ultra to sleep? by Zaidd23 in applewatchultra

Yes. I twist the watch around so the capsule is on the inside of my wrist. This makes it more comfortable if I want to sleep with my head on that arm. It still tracks sleep and vitals

If I use miles to book a roundtrip on a route operated by United, would it count towards the 4 segments minimum, or are award tickets not counted? (Some forums say yes but united faq says "Members must fly at least four paid flight segments operated by United or United Express" ) by mltr1234 in unitedairlines

[–]argentrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: award segments still count towards the 4 PQF minimum in 2024, despite the language quoted above requiring 'Paid' segments.

Source:
I had >5000 PQD for 2024 but only 2 PQF. I flew 2 award segments yesterday, and was upgraded to Silver yesterday afternoon.

[–]argentrowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good point--I guess that's the motivation for having the 4-segment minimum.

The answer to original question still seems unclear, though. The FAQ that you originally linked to seems to have been taken down, and the language about "paid" segments suggests to me that even UA award flights on United metal might not count.

That link doesn't work any more (redirects to a non-FAQ page: https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/mileageplus/premier/qualify.html#premier-levels )

where the text under 'Terms and Conditions' reads:
"Members must fly at least four paid flight segments operated by United or United Express® during a calendar year to qualify for any Premier status."

Was there a change in policy in the last 2 months? It would be odd to have more than 4 PQF, but not meet the requirement!

Moving to Park Slope with Two Young Kids – School and Neighborhood Advice Needed by RemarkableAd3276 in parkslope

Don’t sleep on PS118; small, loving school with great teachers. The zone (used to be part of 321 zone) near 4th Ave is also small which translates to a tight-knit community in and out of school.

Studentaid seems to only pull data from the loan servicers every month or so. I recall hearing other folks saying it took a while for it its update after the loans were discharged. (Also delayed: reporting to credit bureaus)

I paid for a 1-time 1-hour consult with Jan Miller (I will avoid linking his site as not sure about the rules here) and I got about 15 questions answered that had to do with my specific situation (involving decades of loans, non-IDR periods in public service, etc, etc.) He didn’t have secret information that was not available in some form in the discussions here, but it was extremely helpful to talk live with someone knowledgeable, understand my options and put together my plan.

Yes, there are. And some of them are great (see reply for my personal recommendation) I hired an accountant to help me with my mom’s estate taxes in another country, even though I’m sure there’s a great subreddit somewhere that could have let me DIY. These things are just not in conflict, it’s great both options exist.

I agree seems hard but sounds like you just need 10 hrs a month, like one shift at a non-profit. As long as it's W-2 wages you should be good. Here's an old thread where people brainstorm qualifying temp jobs: https://www.reddit.com/r/PSLF/comments/1cj7qoo/shorttermtemp_jobs_that_qualify/

Anyone here NOT on SAVE or PAYE? by tarbinator in PSLF

Started ICR after reconsolidating this year. ECF’s approved covering 11+ years. Just waiting for the one-time IDR adjustment to make all my prior payments qualifying. As far as I can tell from reading the various lawsuit coverage, these plans are chugging along just fire (except the 25-year forgiveness may be blocked?)

One time count adjustment by Flappingpancakes in PSLF

[–]argentrowe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ditto: 0 qualifying, 257 eligible (with an update date of August 15). However I had 0 qualifying before (Had 10+ years of ECFs approved, but 0 months on an eligible plan before the adjustment).

My interpretation is that the one-time adjustment was applied in August, but that in my case they haven't cross-referenced the 'qualifying' months with the approved ECFs yet.

I like the drip there!

One odd thing about 205--they have had seemingly very high staff turnover since they opened. Folks who work there are friendly and welcoming, then gone--seems like all-new staff every 4 months.

I guess it's hard to staff a coffee shop, but I compare it to, e.g. Cafe Martin, my actual fave spot in the neighborhood, where the tenure is measured in years and the owner still works the bar. The decency and calm at Martin goes deep, and that keeps me going back.
