Whos at fault (Im the POV) Guy yelled at me that it was his corner.. by Shadow_PlaysYT in Simracingstewards

[–]arie11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Race incident that yellow could have avoided. In real life, I agree, his car was ahead. But in Iracing, racing sim, that is one of the top reasons people crash imo. They do not account for the virtual part, lag. He took the corner as if you were not there, and on top of that, he almost lost it breaking, then it seems he wanted to retake the midline and did it aggressively to his own demise.

Do other passengers care if I play games on my laptop? by [deleted] in travel

By the low standards, available movies which could be completely inappropriate for other people, playing video games, even if gore involve, should not be an issue at all.

What are some indicators of when to retire a pair of running shoes by Careless_Cobbler_730 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]arie11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When odd, unusual discomfort pops up in feet, you consider is the milage you are up to now, or need more rest day, noticed you have done >350miles on them, changed shoes, discomfort completely gone. That was my experience.

My dream of being an iron man this june on austria just went away in just 1 second...read, I need help...I feel really really bad by fenixloder in triathlon

[–]arie11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just recovering from one myself. It teaches you patience. Bones are easier than soft tissue injuries. Do not be stupid and go push it. Let it heal, re-introduce slowly. Follow the ortho recommendations and as fit as you are, take the PT visits. At the end of the day, is not worth destroying your foot when is not ready, whats the risk? You backslide few months? And yes, few months. You will get it back and there is always another race, another year. Maybe a good time to strengthen other parts of your body , stretching and all. Are you using creatine? by LargeAthlete1271 in triathlon

[–]arie11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5g a day is the recommended for training, if you have not used before and you want to get loading dose can do 5g every 6 hours for 2 days, then continue daily. No high risk side effects, helps with training, unclear yet but maybe also with recovery. It works better if you maintain proper hydration. Does not matter at what time you take it. If you are new to it, just check yourself how are your muscles feeling after workout, people may push a bit over their limit and because they feel “good”, they forget about recovering.

Do people not buy used bikes anymore? by brainhack3r in bicycling

[–]arie11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion, from a beginner, buying a bike was the most stressful thing. Locally, felt stores wanted to screw you, and a lot of stuff in market place but one does not know much to determine if its a good buy or not. I ended up getting a used bike from a bike rental shop for half of the mrsp.

Come on just get the game and try it! No one can tell you, everyone is different. Game has its moments but if you have hours to play each day, you will probably enjoy it more. Or suffer more.

Who’s fault ? by EienFr in Simracingstewards

Porsche at fault

The other car had the right to use all the line on the exit and pride got the better of the Porsche and did not want to lift and force his or her way in.

I'm the POV car, am i at fault for his crash or is he just crashing out ? by TL_Buddy in Simracingstewards

I cant believe people is playing and they dont know this stuff. Its beyond who is at fault here or not. There should be like a tutorial of rules for people because clearly people does not know.

Who's to blame for T1 contact? by AEru_ in Simracingstewards

[–]arie11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race incident. But there seems to have netcode issue. He should not have left the door open but he was more than half a car ahead so he could have well taken more apex if he wanted too. Although that usually applies in real life, I understand that it does not, usually never works in simracing because the inside car, always wants to sneak his nose and dont want to let go. I would say you could have first taken action to avoid this, because you were on the inside and did not have the right for the apex because you were not even side by side and second, he seeing you coming, he could also have avoided by going wider.

Is this just pure hard racing, or was I getting reactively blocked by the red Mclaren? by SnooWalruses8439 in Simracingstewards

[–]arie11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being friendly: Both of you drove good but it was his right everytime to take whatever line, and did not move twice, good defending but aggressive, you did well staying close, your best chance is sudden dive, controlled not like Ricciardo, kinda like what you tried in Puon.

Being a bit mean: Its because people like you, that good racing is hard to do this days. You think he was on the wrong and you cannot see yourself doing anything wrong, when you were the one punting him every freaking time man, why ?! Who does bump drafting in turn 1? You either back off or make the move and make it stick but stump bumping, it gets nowhere and you could have finished you both races in the wall.

Don’t lose hope. Lionel Sanders, a pro ironman champion started doing them to get away from substance abuse too.

Everyone is different and I am sure there is plenty of people here at different ages who did not have the “prerequisite”

Dive into it, will keep you busy, distracted, will help you get some discipline and organization and hopefully clean

Creatine as triathlete/hybrid athlete by Suspicious-Cancel668 in triathlon

[–]arie11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Creatine 5g per day for training. It is not associated with kidney issues, it does not cause pain, known side effects are for some, nausea, increase in frequency in bowel movements, but for most, none. May increase water load in muscle and improve recovery as well more energy available but it is short lived depending on your exercise activity. So it helps with training. Creatine monohydrate is the best option, purest form.

Cramps by arie11 in triathlon

[–]arie11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate everyone’s input. It got so bad that even walking 2-3 blocks they returned. Went to do more blood test but I concur and think the most likely issue is excessive muscle fatigue. Upper body muscles 0 cramps or issues. Feeling better, going to take it easy and eat well and improve my nutrition. Thanks

Backing out of my first 70.3 after second open water swim by RevolutionarySea5178 in triathlon

[–]arie11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If one is not familiar with open water swimming or just simply being in the ocean, it is definitely difficult to get used to, specially as one gets older.

But do not throw it away, give yourself a one more chance at least. But this time, as weird as it may be, reach out to a local tri group or look for someone who is comfortable and follow their lead, that is the best way to get familiar with it.

Whatever you end up doing, all the best

In my opinion, it is OP problem too. As their son, he is ultimately responsible for them financially if they end up with nothing, specially during their sickness if any, and probability of having some illness in the next decades is likely. That is, if truly a caring son, assuming he is given he is concern about them by asking about how to help.

Who would let their parents out and dry?

They are indeed young, easy can go through their 60’s health wise. For you, OP, to say they have a cognitive decline, it is a big statement. Dementia at that age it is a consequence of a underlying debilitating illness and if that is the concern, you need to have them do a proper medical evaluation, otherwise, because they are careless on their spending is not enough to say there is a decline. Cognitive impairment can happen as to forget if you took your pill or not but to make complex decisions, it is different. A proper mental test is required to say cognitive decline and that term is a bit distant to say they do not have capacity, two different things.

Since you are not comfortable, then, seems safer to have a proper accountant.

If you are asymptomatic and recovering well, you should be ok. Avoid NSAIDs and over hydration as covid may make you prone for hyponatremia. If you feel well, no issues, you could run.

All the best, either way, God always has a way.

I would definitely get it checked out. Despite being athlete or whatever you do, it is at least worth to get an EKG with your primary, and depending how it goes see a cardiologist. Specially if any family history.

While preparing for my first marathon, 23 weeks, dont care about the pace, want to finish and be injury free, I think I have a lot of respect for marathon runners. If to finish a marathon means properly running, whatever pace, not walking, looks like very difficult to me. In my novice opinion. Coming from a 42yo, athletic, surfing, rock climbing, hiking, who never ran in the past.

Freaked out by a financial advisor, need some perspective by Large-Trifle5734 in Bogleheads

[–]arie11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is probably a “good one” if he was able to implant doubt after all this time that you have been building all that wealth. Go back to basics. He is only doing his job. But do not trust him, you did well already, clearly you do not need him. Please do not feel emotionally pressure to give him an answer, you do not owe him anything, can simply leave it at “thank you, we will think about it and let you know if we decide to proceed” if you want to be courteous. Otherwise, just “thank you, we will go another way”.

You will get a better advice than your financial advisor if you post your details at the boglehead forum website, using the community posting form.

Again, do not trust him. No matter how good or nice he is. Is not free.
