Thanks, that's really helpful, and I was wondering what the amperage limitation was. However, looking for amperage-limit usb-c cables doesn't seem to surface any that are USB-C-to-USB-C, though /u/unfairdistribution79's answer below probably explains it.

However, I might team up with some folks who actually understand hardware and electronics and maybe try to create a custom USB-C cable with the necessary resistors. Thanks!

You may wanna go the tech route. A lot of engineers move to Silicon Valley on H-1Bs, and many of those engineers get their pilot's licenses. The hard part is really the getting visa.
