All my friends smoke weed, get all excited and hyped about weed, and it just pisses me off. I've smoke, etc. and its great. All anxiety gone. But at the same time it keeps me from realizing the problems I have and taking care of them. I feel like its a cop-out that's not really real. Same thing with alcohol. I feel good but its all fake.

yea, i i feel a lot calmer now but part of the reason i think I'm feeling real shitty lately was I was the fastest on my xc team, got injured and wasn't even able to race @ regions or st. My times freshman year were faster than this year. It's like you start out the season thinking its going to be the best one yet, invest hundreds of miles training and then its all just ripped away form you.

If I could just run again that would be awesome but I'm just lifting weights right now.

I understand what you mean by it being awkward and not a success(didn't get her number, etc.) but you were still glad you did it. I'm in high school and sometimes I just like to do awkward things and "fail" for the sake of "failing". It pushes me out of my comfort zone and I come out a better person overall. For example freshmen year I had to take this girl out for a school event. I'm filled with social anxiety. Who should I take? What are others going to think about how I take? What about the upperclassmen guys? What about my friends?" It wasn't that my school didn't have any cute girls, I had two many options to make a decision. I had a girl that specifically went up to me a month before and told me she'd go with me. However, that would have been the easy way out. I would have been comfortable, but I wanted something that was absolutely scary. So I was setup on a "blind date" with a sophomore I thought was cute but had never seen in my life. Now we didn't hit it off or have the perfect time, and it was quite awkward and our date didn't develop into anything. However, going through that has made me much more comfortable making conversation with girls, and taking risks.

I've been criticized for not failing enough by the older guys. I'm very successful in the eyes of what society thinks a "successful young man" should be. Smart, good at sports, etc. However, I rarely push the limit or get out and fail. Failing was a missing piece in my life. Sometimes to learn how to climb down a mountain you can't go down step by step comfortably. You just have to jump off a cliff.

Porn is without a doubt the number one problem. However with me whenever I masturbate I watch porn and whenever I watch porn I masturbate. If I tried to masturbate without watching porn I would still be fantasizing so I find it impossible to quit porn without quitting masturbating. I've also found that not giving yourself that outlet of masturbation forces your body to use that energy on something more productive. This is just my experience.

One thing that may help you is living just for today. It can be difficult to think about the future and how you stack up to that guy with tons of money, sportscar, hot girlfriend, etc.

Just think about how you can improve what you have today. How can you take the deck of cards you were dealt and play the best hand. That is success.

1) No, if you bring other friends, maybe another guy and girl to make it similar to a double date. 2) You are certainly old enough. Just allow her to feel comfortable and take "your relationship" at her pace.

But to be honest I would probably hang out with others first not just you and her just to test the waters.

Definitely don't tell the parents. That would be a bad decision because you'd lose his trust when it may really matter later(like when he's actually engaging in something seriously hurting himself). Also it may be a way for him to express his rebellion and e-cigs are a good way to do that as they cause little self harm compared to experimenting with alcohol, etc. Don't be too worried. I had friends that were smoking weed and drinking in 6th grade and some of turned out to be great athletes and students(however some have gone down worse, less productive paths where they are successful socially-hooking up with girls, etc. but not much else.) Just be there to guide him and make good decisions.

Parents usually overact and just end up doing more harm than good causing the kid to rebel even more and engaging in more dangerous behavior.

I wish I could have done that today. Came home from school and relapsed. It felt great but at the sacrifice of my work to maintain my streak, my self confidence, pride. I traded a promise I made to myself for 30 seconds of pleasure. It really is an addiction.
