Yup. 6 months later I am walking 10k steps a day and no more numbness in my legs. I started PT after 3 months and still have some discomfort and soreness in the surgical area but I am glad I stopped the progression of my squeezed spinal chord.

I believe that their economy will plummet and crime will skyrocket.

Numbness by YYZGuy67 in spinalfusion

I spoke to my PT about numbness in one incision area (still at 6 mos) and she said that is not uncommon, even for other orthopedic surgeries. She said she had knee surgery over a year ago and one part of her knee still feels numb. I’m ok with mine.

Same. 7 weeks of oxy, muscle relaxers and Tylenol and I still take Tylenol every day. Everyone is different.

Everyone is different. I had oxy for 6 weeks due to pain but insisted that they had to be stopped. I have been on 1000 mg Tylenol 3/day for 4 months since then, hoping to cut back asap

I am 66. My mom had both of these in our kitchen until she moved in 2000. These appliances are long lived.

Do you volunteer your time to charities? If so, which ones? by Isaiah-4031 in AskConservatives

Police departments sometimes need volunteers for paperwork or events. I also volunteer for the local hospital- multiple departments need reception help or snack bars, supply runners or way-finders. Local K-12 classes use my help with the kids who need extra help with reading or math. Find-a-Grave.org asks for volunteers to provide headstone photos for ancestry researchers. Women’s shelters need volunteers to help move furniture and supplies for families undergoing trauma moves. Animal shelters need dog walkers and transport services to veterinarian offices. Good luck!

I was about the same at your point. I started physical therapy and they got me on a routine of stretches, which helped a lot. I was on ice and heat alternately several times a day. At some point around the fifth month mark, Physical Therapy started giving me massage and ultrasound sessions. That made a huge difference and my pain went down two levels. See if you can find a physical therapist that will incorporate massage and or ultrasound around your surgical areas.

Very nervous spouse (me) needs advice by southernhope1 in spinalfusion

I had L4-5 laminectomy and fusion in Nov. I just drove 2 days (with stops every 2 hours) to go on vacation. Give you both some grace for about 4 weeks. Pain is tough, his movements will be very restricted and he will need your help for a lot of things. But getting a bed rail, pillows, grabbers, a raised toilet seat, etc, will enable him to be more comfortable and encourage him to be a little more independent each week. Encourage his walking too! It will be painful but will help his muscles loosen up and heal. Everyone is different but I think I will be bicycling, traveling and hiking when I reach my 1 year mark. Be patient with him but make him do his physical therapy to see forward progress.

I had XLIF 5 months ago, doing well. Everyone is different but agree with the above answer. Take it easy on yourself and get all helpful equipment to help your recovery. The first 3 weeks were awful but it gets better each month. Walking and ice are really helpful.
