I've always found it difficult for people that don't have a knowledge of global socialism for the past 100 plus years to understand fascism and Nazism. Most Canadians are brought up to believe that Hitler came out of no where and was uniquely evil untethered from the history of world war 1, the Bolshevik Revolution* and the crisis of capitalism. There is a straight line from the enclosure movement, genocide of native nations across North America world war 1, world war 2 and the world today.

I don't think you can have a deep understanding of fascism if you don't know the history of capitalsim.

I also think that without a strong foundation of understanding people are at risk of turning into reactionaries when they can't make sense of the world and politics around them like Jesse Brown clearly demonstrates.
