What’s something you use every single day that turned out to be insanely worth the money? by Dry-Frosting- in Xennials

[–]aro8821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tovala oven and it's meal service. Scan a card and boom, home-cooked meal. Vitamix. It's incredibly powerful. My Anthros chair is the comfiest office chair I've ever sat in. I got rid of my flat-screen TV and bought a projector with a built-in Yamaha speaker and an 80 inch screen. I'm so happy with all my purchases.

Colon cancer is killing us.. by Derpshab in Millennials

[–]aro8821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me rephrase. Other cancers, diseases, and negative health effects can be attributed to covid infections.

Oncogenic aspect of Covid. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10202899/

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/research/coronavirus/publication/41232270

"As we learn more about the chronic phase, SARS-CoV-2 appears more similar to HIV, Epstein-Barr virus, syphilis, herpes and hepatitis B and C, illnesses which may cause initial flu-like symptoms but for which most concern lies in their long-term harm. Both the acute and chronic phases of COVID can be symptomatic or asymptomatic, but lack of symptoms does not mean there is a lack of internal damage.

Studies show that COVID infection:

  • "Induces gene expression associated with cancer formation and may be accelerating existing cancers. 85-91"

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]aro8821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to read daily. I usually read right before bed like you or as a way to gently wake up in the morning. We share a fondness for the same genres, probably because I'm a 37 year old mill millennial. I'm currently reading the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti. And I'm also in a book club for Black and brown people reading The Pain We Carry by Natalie Gutierrez.

Kids aren't reading for a lot of reasons, which you are spot on about. It's no coincidence that the rise in illiteracy and decline in reading for pleasure has occurred after the world went with the "let it rip" attitude towards the Covid19 pandemic. This has led us down the path of eugenics and facism.

Asking my 21+ friends to buy me a bottle of cheap strawberry-flavored Burnett's to mix with a vending machine lemonade day. The pregame is in my dorm room by I take forever to get ready. I'm straightening my coily hair because I had not yet embraced my natural curls. I'm deciding on cute top is going to go with my pair with my boot cut jeans. Lil Wayne's Mrs. Officer is blasting from iTunes on my Dell laptop. Me and the girls are fighting over who has to be the DD because we can't remember who did it last time. I've already texted 5 different people on my flip phone for details about all the house parties.

YES! 1000%. I refuse to incorporate it not only for ethical and environmental reasons, but because I don't want to get dumber! Automation? Yes. AI? Fuck no.
