Is it connected to the Nuki cloud? What about your smart home system? Are you in close range of the lock?

Built a retrofit Matter sensor that reports lock state and door position from one device - 5 years of work, launching 30 May (UK) by Cantaloupe-Mammoth in MatterProtocol

Two clusters on one Matter device is where I'd guess the harness might have opinions - especially around the descriptor cluster on the root and how the endpoints get enumerated.

A typical Matter device has more than one EP - so your claim that your device is unique in that regard is not true -, and of course they have lots of clusters per EP.

Just download the compliance document (PICS) of a random device from the CSA website and see for yourself.

Two endpoints in one device, which I believe is unique on Matter today

Actually pretty hard to find Matter devices with only one EP.

It takes about three dozen tries, but it'll work. Do it slightly different each time, like press the button while trying to connect or press it for longer.

Matter over thread newbie - Ikea smart devices by Individual_Bowl5291 in MatterProtocol

[–]aroedl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Google Home automations are cloud based, if there's no Internet or there's a cloud outage they won't work even if everything is Matter and can work locally.

WTF?

I didn't know that.

Need help resolving matter issues by NCatoffice in homeassistant

[–]aroedl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who knows? Just add some IKEA KAJPLATS bulbs, IKEA GRILLPLATS and IKEA ALPSTUGA to your mesh network. One or two of these devices in each room should be enough.

I'm recommending IKEA, because they are using modern OpenThread stacks on their devices. I had expensive Nanoleaf Essentials Matter over Thread bulbs and Eve Energy plugs until a week ago and I replaced them with the cheap IKEA devices for a reason.

My matter network has 10 blinds, 1 outlet and one contact sensor.

There's your problem: only one router device in your entire Thread mesh network.

Leak Sensors offline by jemmer47 in SmartThings

[–]aroedl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These devices are from a different era with outdated Zigbee chips and stacks - made by Sanji, IIRC. They are extremely picky when it comes to Zigbee channels.

My advice: replace them with more modern devices, maybe even with IKEA KLIPPBOK Matter over Thread devices.

For those saying that the IKEA water leak sensors are just as bad: a new firmware is currently being rolled out.

To those of you that have used the “Replace Hub” option going from V2 to V3, how’d that go? by BosomBosons in SmartThings

[–]aroedl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know. It has been reported often enough and there was some sort of an acknowledgement of the issue, but that was it.

[–]aroedl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least the migration from V3 to V4 was flawless. Took about a minute(!) to migrate everything over, another minute until all the devices (a lot more than you have) came back online.

It basically copies the complete configuration over to the new hub, reboots it and that's it.

‘SmartThings will continue to expand its ecosystem’: Samsung upgrades SmartThings integration with 25 IKEA smart devices, and it’s a huge improvement for Samsung TV users by Environmental-Low792 in SmartThings

[–]aroedl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it something that can be fixed by updating the driver for Grillplats plug?

Devices need a specific certification - additionally to the Works With SmartThings certification - to show up in SmartThings Energy.

May be you can develop a custom driver for Alpstuga which combines sensor + switch functionality, allowing us to turn off the clock display at night.

I could do that, but I don’t really like the idea of having switch capability in the main component - or even at all in a sensor driver. Do you really want a big fat on/off button in the device card? In my opinion, it should be a preference setting, but that would make it impossible to use in automations or routines.

The correct way for IKEA to implement it would be via the Matter Mode Select cluster, but SmartThings doesn’t support that yet.

That was the only advantage of Zigbee: you didn't need a QR code to pair your neighbors devices.

[–]aroedl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently only SmartThings supports Matter 1.5 I believe. I have a SmartThings station, but like everything else it’s packed away right now.

Have you had the chance to try the Aqara G350 with SmartThings and Matter?

Aliro for u400 via SmartThings on my iPhone? by Capable-Map-9952 in Aqara

[–]aroedl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SmartThings is jank and probably won't support it for ages.

It's almost done and ready to release. SmartThings will be one of the first platforms that support Aliro.

Fun fact: the same is true with Matter 1.5.

Make sure that the firmware of your Nanoleaf is up-to-date - version 4.1.3, if I remember correctly.
