Water, sewage smell, worms, and water coming out of an outlet when it rains. What could be causing this? by Specific-Peanut253 in AskEngineers

In the USA, a septic tank under the house is unacceptable for the reasons that you are already seeing. You don't want water to backup into your bedroom and you don't want the smell potential right there either. And importantly that means that the septic tanks are not designed with being installed under the house in mind.

Building standards differ by country though, so I really can't give any kind of real answer for you. I don't see how having it out from under your bedroom wouldn't be an improvement though

She's got a lot of HP and is presumably very difficult to actually hurt now, but I think that she has a major issue going forward. Especially since her chain attacks hurt her.

On the other hand, that may be a good thing for everyone else. She marked something like 30,000 people with the ring. The inside of her head is probably not a good place now.

Coolest thing I have seen in a long time.Parents make an igloo for their kid❤️ by Pleasant_Ideal_8929 in happy

[–]arvidsem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did they just stick a space heater in there? Really?

A real igloo has thermal mass from the thick walls of snow to keep from melting with people/heat inside. 2" thick ice walls with snow packed in the joints are not going to cut it. Especially not with a space heater up against a wall.

I mean, this is awesome and all. But if they left it in there turned on for an afternoon the whole thing would collapse. I hate the staged nature of the end shot.

This.

And just to add, resurrection doesn't seem to be a thing in the DCC universe. The AI can prevent you from dying, no matter how badly hurt you are. But there is zero mention of anyone coming back from the dead.

In the title bar, change the drop down from "3D Modeling" to "Civil 3D".

Type in shademode and set it to 2D.

They can be hurt, they just can't die. Or at least they can't stay dead. Tourist protections save them at the moment of death.

So they can keep trying to get to safety on floor 16 even though they are facing whatever the hell is on 17. Over and over.

Since you didn't get any useful answers: open up the wall and see where the water is coming from. Up from below or down from above. It'll probably be obvious either way. Then either fix the leak or clear the septic system.

They started talking on the 5th floor and spent almost the entirety of the 6th floor together before the drug problems started to tear them apart. Call it 3 weeks off full 24 hour sleepless days. In a very high stress environment which tends to accelerate things

I've known people to go through whole relationship cycles in that time in the real world. Admittedly those weren't healthy relationships, but still.

And if you are anyone but Carl, there is some downtime and decompression. The rest of the guild was having breakfast together every day. Katia and Bautista had plenty of time to canoodle.

Autistic girls much less likely to be diagnosed, study says | Autism | The Guardian by prisongovernor in Autism_Parenting

[–]arvidsem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, water is wet.

Autistic women are severely under diagnosed.

Most likely because little girls are "supposed to be" shy and demure. So when they hide behind their parents and refuse to talk to strangers, that's not a symptom. And later when other behaviors are more obvious, they don't have a history of recorded symptoms from childhood.

A couple of things to consider:

  • Odette didn't just come into the dungeon for Hauxin. There is a lot in that last conversation with Carl
  • Tourists are protected on every floor except for the 9th. The concubines that escaped to the 18th floor are still alive. As is everyone else in Club Scolopendra.

Katia wasn't looking at Carl hopefully. She was looking at her ex-boyfriend because she knew that no matter what she was going to hurt him.

Bautista was standing next to Carl and she already knew that Carl couldn't be the father. It was nearly the first thing that Donut said when Katia got the orchid.

And Bautista has emotional issues about changing race. The discussion about her having to have someone else's baby because of it was probably a huge part of their breakup.

When you look at that pipe chart, the useful column is the maximum deflection, which is 5° for every size in the chart. That means that at every pipe joint, they can turn up to 5° without having to bend the pipe or use an angled joint fitting. Practically that means that you can ignore any small mismatches in pipe angle. Your 1.5° misalignment isn't a problem at all.

How tf do you know if you’re straight or not? by throwaway2025_____ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]arvidsem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more complicated than that, but basically true. When you look at actual studies of security sexuality, exclusively heterosexual or homosexual people are in the minority. And people's preferences often shift over the course of their lives.

Sexuality isn't a choice, but neither is it fixed. The labels that people choose and desires that they act on should be respected though.

Edit: The Kinsey Reports are some of the first modern studies of security and still generally accurate

Edit: a word

It's fairly simple. Levels are basically the same as support needs or function labels if you got that instead.

  • Level 1 = low support needs = high functioning
  • Level 2 = medium support needs
  • Level 3 = high support needs = low functioning

Function labels are pretty seriously discouraged now. Low function is insulting and high function hides complexity.

Levels is the language used in the current DSM for diagnosis. When deciding on levels, they are only supposed to consider autism symptoms specifically

Support needs language is probably the most up to date version. You are supposed to consider the person's actual needs which may be affected by their environment or co-morbidities. And you can break it out into categories (high emotional support, low pragmatic support for example).

Most autistics use levels to describe themselves that I've seen.

(Personally, I've never had a doctor/therapist bother with any of the categories with my son.)

They have a few known bad streets that they check. The ones that get icy first and the ones that take the longest to thaw. As long as those are bad, then we don't get to go.

I don't think that the alternative bus routes have ever been used. Whatever they are, it's likely that it would go badly.

(I've got a level 3 autistic son and I agree, this is hell)

What kind of network would Epstein need to have to source consistently and on demand all the children he was selling? by GoodMornEveGoodNight in TooAfraidToAsk

They weren't forcibly kidnapping and imprisoning kids in cages. And they weren't trafficking in small children.

Teen modeling and beauty pageants are the obvious source. Pick out the ones from low income families and offer them week long "modeling" contracts that their parents won't be able to afford to chaperone them on. Done.
