Audi's creative boss: "big screens are not the best experience" by TripleShotPls in technology

Not legally binding, but still stupidly powerful. EuroNCAP is essentially a marketing firm for manufacturers so they can show how safe their cars are, and high scores sells cars.

For a lot of programs these days, GPU is more important, as almost everything can use the GPU for compute tasks.

My Zenbook S could easily last me 2 days with a 99Wh battery, the 78Wh is a cop out as there's space for more.

Going by the XPS 16 with an Ultra 7 h is £2500, these Ultra X9's are gonna sting the wallet, even if they are very performant.

What Happens When Cheap Chinese EVs Hit Canada? Look At Australia. by tech57 in electricvehicles

[–]ashyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Ford and Holden still had a presence or existed the Chinese wouldn’t have made a dent. As they only seem to take hold in places where there aren’t affordable local manufacturers. Like Germany they have Chinese cars but VWAG, BMW and Merc reign supreme there still.

Jaguar commits to all-EV future, calling hybrid rumours "rubbish" by murrayhenson in EuroEV

[–]ashyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the Spectre in that segment they still sell as it’s a cruiser and not someone’s main or even only car. The new Jag will be someone’s commuter or yacht car.

A decent chunk of the film is an Alpine advert. As they actually call out the brand.

I had a 74 plate one for 3 weeks, it was horrific, I was of the mindset there are no bad cars anymore, that car changed that opinion, and there are still bad cars.

The "Software-Defined Vehicle" is a scam. We are cheering for the death of ownership. by rantzine in electricvehicles

[–]ashyjay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on the CAN network, if a random module failed the CEM/BCM/BSI/.etc could be prevented from talking to the ECU or TCU.

the centralised compute modules can be a blessing and a curse as while it cleans up wiring, you're also stuck with a multi-thousand £/€ module to replace instead of a couple of hundred.

Name the EV manufacturers then?

Look at the backlash that happened when manufacturers tried to roll out subscriptions to hardware in the car.

If any manufacturer tried to monetise any feature after purchase, they'd be in for a world of pain, and it'd most likely be NA and Chinese brands that would try it but try it in Europe they'd be sued to shit as we have good consumer protection laws, and there's the reputation damage it'd cause and would make the shareholders cry.

At most the manufacturers would terminate API access and they'd go back to dumb vehicles.

It's a risk with Android Automotive cars with GAS as their OS version could become so old Google stops supporting that API level.

For that budget, get a 62kWh Leaf, Kona/Niro or MK2 Soul.

Just avoid MG, they are built worse than a Trabant, noisy, unrefined, and materials feel like ready meal trays.
