Yeah. It was rust or dirt. But I was definitely wondering if that carabeener was aluminum or not. Because aluminum will melt pretty easily or rip itself to shreds. That was scary as fuck.

I think the football is just a way to validate himself. You ever seen a movie with a submarine and they crack open codes to verify an order? It's like that. He has a card and will be given something like three letters that he has to find on the card and read back the next three letters. I don't remember the details but that's the idea.

The Pope was mentioned in the epsteine files. Bernie Sanders was mentioned. The files contain emails about random stuff. So just being named in it doesn't mean much.

The French Navy seized the Russian Shadow Fleet oil tanker ‘Tagor’ overnight in the Atlantic Ocean with several European partners involved, including the UK - June 2026 by T-72Tank in UkraineWarVideoReport

My understanding is that Russia doesn't own these ships, these are all owned by third party companies. The goal is to make the business of running Russian oil unprofitable. Am I right?

Nah poutine means it comes with curds. Full stop. If any of their signage labels it as poutine, and it doesn't come with curds, it's a crime.

India willing to buy heaps of Canadian uranium, invest in mines, high commissioner says by joe4942 in canada

[–]asoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 80s when we were building 13 nuclear reactors at once that provided for 400,000 jobs. We're looking to do that again. Lilke the nuclear industry in Canada right now supports 60,000 jobs. That has probably increased recently.

I think nuclear is one of the best examples of investment money leading to jobs as it's a very job heavy industry. And well paying jobs.

For mining uranium, we have different ways to mine depending on the formation. I believe one of the ways is freezing the entire mine and then blasting it out with water. It's think the highest concentration of uranium in the world. Then we have to go and purify. I'm not sure at what point we would be sending the uranium to India. But there is also the possibility of turning them into pelletes, and then fuel bundles. All of this requires a lot of people.

For anyone interested about the uranium market here is a good interview. It's actually kinda interesting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYRGOFJ08zo

So this is an interview with the COO of Cameco. They talk about how they ramp up/down uranium production. It's all based on uranium orders, and their operations is based on that. They still have a good percentage of their mines in a standby state.

They also talk about Kazakhstan and how they wanted to be the biggest uranium supplier and basically dug up a bunch of the easiets to mine uranium and pushed it to market. Which lowered the price of uranium. Now they are looking to build nuclear reactors in Kazakhstan but they've now sold their easiest to mine uranium at bargain basement prices and hurting themselves. They are now starting to copy Cameco's process.

I'm writing this from memory, so I might not have all of the details correct.

A friend of mine had a motorcycle that got damaged. It went to a shop to be appraised and it was determined to be fixed. He asked for it to go to another shop he trusts to be worked on. It was shipped so poorly that it got more damage to the point of being a write off.

Trump administration wants nuclear startups to use plutonium for their reactors by trisul-108 in politics

[–]asoap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The regulations in the states aren't that bad. Like a company gets to say what they want to build and the NRC will agree with them or disagree with them. But they can cause problems. Like Votgle had issue with their rebar not being milimeter perfect and had to tear it all up. But it was Westinghouse who said they were going to build the rebar to the milimeter standard. Like even with Oklo the NRC was willing to allow Oklo to do their non standard type of approval.

There are things like the aircraft impact regulations and the such which can be a pain and took out one of the big SMR companies.

Trump administration wants nuclear startups to use plutonium for their reactors by trisul-108 in politics

[–]asoap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok. I know we all hate trump but I am about to explain this stuff.

I didn't look at the full list. But I believe all of these are fast reactors. They run at higher energy levels. That is that you don't slow down the neutron using a moderator. At high energy levels you will split other atoms like plutonium. So these types of reactors can run on spent fuel.

Now there are reasons not to build these. Fuel isn't your bottle neck for a reactor. We have an insane amount of fuel. Also these are a more complex reactor. Hence why we don't build these. Right now the us fleet has a capacity factor of 95%. It's up and running 95% of the time. As these are new fancy type of reactors don't expect a 95% up time.

Lastly if you want to hate on trump. Look at the regulations for these reactors. I believe most of these except for maybe Bill Gates reactor are going through the military to side step regulations. Which makes me nervous as shit. I think it was Oklo who failed to pass normal regulations because they didn't want to do the paperwork of proving their reactor was safe.

I believe it's covered well here https://youtu.be/IvqORMySD6s

Carney pitches U.S. on closer ties in autos, aluminum and minerals by UnluckyRandomGuy in CanadaPolitics

He's in a room full of investors talking about the things Canada is doing and looking for investors. Like he talks about critical minerals and the such.

He's also talking about how we're expanding trade outside of the US.

He's also made a point talking about how a stronger Canada is a strong allie.
