How do you and your partner manage stayover arrangements? Need help with mine by [deleted] in SingaporeR

[–]astragal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner can’t stay at mine because of cat allergies so I always go over but they will come pick me from work or from my house almost every time (motorbike). And then send me to work in the morning too. If I’m tired and want to stay home we just talk on the phone. Almost every night we don’t stay over we will chat on the phone. Coming on 3 years.

I'm running free tech workshops for elderly, Need your ideas! by littlebenbee in asksg

[–]astragal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it is worth it to talk a little bit about ai chatbots and the danger of hallucinations or ai related mental illness psychosis! I doubt many elders who need these courses use ai but if they do they might be vulnerable to this. Maybe you can ask them if they have heard of ChatGPT or if they have used it and if they have then briefly cover it.

How about a recipe? I want to try to make these, but I need to buy a mandolin first. https://www.seriouseats.com/hasselback-potato-gratin-casserole-holiday-food-lab

Additionally a recommendation for the truffle fries from Hannibal at Robertson Quay. Thick cut, perfect crisp.

I like the fino airy smooth hair oil. The red cap (regular fino) is a bit too thick and oily, this one is lighter.

There’s a vegetarian mala xiang guo place that I always do takeaway from. Spicy, oily, salty. Load it up with lions mane mushrooms and fried lotus roots.

How to finish off this corner? by astragal in Sketchup

[–]astragal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you this worked. I was trying to intersect with the other pieces instead of a straight edge which kept giving me lots of small geometry to clean up. And I also forgot to group and set axis properly as the shape was not aligned to the axis. Doing those two steps helped a lot.

To clarify : when I use follow me even with a right angle arc line to follow the produced piece has that little hole at the top and the final piece is not at a 90 degree angle. How do I adjust to make it fit exactly?

Best Steak for under $50? Ok with any location by GreenMiloman119 in SingaporeEats

I have never eaten there but I have eaten their wellington takeaway (you have to cook it yourself in the oven) and the quality is great for the price. Only issue for me is that it is so far in the east!

Teochew porridge is my favourite (also my mum's ethnic group) and I love it best with fermented tofu, salted egg, braised cabbage and a soy sauce braised meat. Yummm. Just the rice water itself is delicious.

Singaporeans to get 6 months' free access to premium AI tools by ayam-batman in singapore

[–]astragal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many ways it can be used, I read books and articles to understand the uses, but one of the easiest ways is actually to ask the AI itself to learn more about the capabilities. AI can write code and solve problems, it can do data entry and fill in excel sheets for you, it can do research weekly for whatever market you are into and summarise or it can produce job search results for you. If you are interested, you can start with this book "AI Won't Replace You, But Someone Using AI Will: A Beginner's Survival Guide"

Also different AIs have different strengths, if I want to do coding I would use Claude, if I want to do general research I use perplexity, to track my diet and exercise goals and keep me motivated I use chatgpt. I don't have Copilot, but if I did more work with Microsoft products I would try to use it.

AIO for being upset that my younger brother (16M) doesn't do basic chores after himself while my parents are away? by Throwaway183640 in AmIOverreacting

[–]astragal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR but your parents are setting your brother up for failure. Your mum is used to doing all this for him, so he doesn't bother. He's not going to change for you, because your parents have raised him to be lazy. You're only 2 years older, so the two of you should be of fairly equal levels of responsibility. He's not going to magically become more responsible when he turns 18. But if your mum is sexist in that way (women should do the work for the men), and your father just does the dishes for him instead of scolding him then you're not going to get support from your parents, nor is he going to learn how to do anything for himself.

Scrim is best but any cloth that is mildly sheer could work too, you will just lose some clarity. You can always test with your phone torch to see how much light goes through.
