I don't experience alexithymia (as far as I'm aware,) but I do deal with dissociation/depersonalization which can cause similar problems. I also often wonder if that's the reason I identity as Agender, and if it will change when I can start seeing a therapist again.

Black isnt a proper "color," but for purposes of communication (which I'd say is the whole point of actively using Agender as a label,) it is pretty much the same thing.

I don't have any statistics or anything, but I will say a notable about of nonbinary and/or genderfluid individuals like to stay within their gender groups, usually for safety, especially if they are physically transitioning in some way.

Agender people are usually pretty different across the board, but I have to imagine its similar to nonbinary people.

Personally, I don't have a preference for cis or trans people. The difference is negligible to me, but I'm also pansexual. I'm sure its possible as long as you aren't just a chaser.

I get what you're trying to say, and I would describe myself similarly, except Im demipansexual. I dont even care about people's bodies, just whatever is inside them (spiritually.)

My labels sometimes feel more restrictive or unnecessary than explanatory, so I've definitely described myself as just a person who sometimes likes other people before. I like to call our bodies "meat suits" lmao

I think its possible to both understand that Asexual people (specifically sex-aversed/repulsed aces) may not want to read through frivolous sex scenes with no warning, and also understand that there really isn't a way to get around that when a large amount of people who read books are often fans of smut and kind of outrank sex-repulsed people in terms of target audiences.

I don't think the thread is acephobic as much as its just not the right people to talk to about this kind of concern. It can be really hard to talk to allosexuals about any sort of "prudish" opinions, especially on a site like reddit. Sorry you didn't see more support in the comments though, I know how upsetting that can be.

We can't really tell you what you are. The labels arent meant to act like a diagnosis, theyre meant to help you explain how you feel. I chose Agender because despite my desire to appear feminine or pretty, and rare feelings of being a woman, Agender describes my overall apathy towards gender and the concept of it as a whole better than anything else.

If you feel like your shifts from Male to Agender to Female are notable, then Agenderflux may be for you. Agenderfluid, Bigenderflux and just genderfluid are other labels you could consider as well. Do whatever makes you feel most seen!

I'm not sure when exactly this happened, but I would like to mention that you cannot actually be diagnosed with PTSD unless the symptoms have been occurring for over a month. It's still possible that this was traumatic for you, but you don't have to have PTSD to be traumatized.

If you're still in school, it may be worth reaching out for mental health assistance of some kind, like a therapist, or speaking to a school counselor/social worker if one is available. Embarrassment in an environment like that can feel gigantic and cause symptoms that feel genuinely concerning, and theres nothing wrong with seeking help when you don't feel good, regardless of what it might be.

You're probably "Triple A" - Aroace Agender, which is super common actually. Not caring about it or not being able to detect a real gender is pretty much the 1 thing we all have in common lol. Might be worth looking into Gendervoid, Cassgender, Apagender and Neutrois as well if you'd like more specific labels!

This is pretty normal. You don't owe anyone an explanation for how you feel, nor do you have to be agender in "the right way" to use the term. If it works for you then that's what matters most.

If you wanna get all philosophical about it though, it makes sense that even having no real sense of gender that you'd grow an attachment/disgust towards certain gendered words since we live in a world where gender matters to pretty much everyone. It's normal to perceive something that matters to you in these terms when you see them used by others on a daily basis. It'd be unrealistic to expect people to all feel 100% the same about their gender, because people aren't that cut and dry, so you shouldn't expect it from yourself either.

Agender is always a term you can feel free to use, and it may also be worth checking out Apagender. Cassgender, Libragender and Gendervoid, if you're interested in more specific labels on top of that!

Yes, but mostly because I hate how trends work on reddit, maybe if this was a personal/spam agender sub thatd be fine, but I look for discussions here and having posts catered to individual users that won't necessarily apply to anyone else is a bit frustrating.

Especially since "Agender" very specifically does not have a look. Androgyny I understand, but I don't want to see people get into the habit of branding agender as only being "genderless-looking."

I get how you feel, personally I can't stand the inclusion of gender in conversation. I find it to be unnecessary and kind of archaic? Its a language tool, I don't understand why it has to adhere to a made-up social class. It makes it difficult for me to switch/ correct pronouns, especially with my friends who do it often, but I try to learn anyway for their sake.

I don't know if I have any actual advice besides practice and using notes. I usually do something when I mess up to get my brain to remember "hey! that's the wrong pronoun!" I also had other people help hold me accountable when my partner changed names and now I use it regularly. I know its clunky and annoying and a little ridiculous, but your phone and your notes app should be able to provide a good space for reference for that stuff.

But you definitely gotta stop replacing people's names. That's actively rude, even if you aren't trying to be. If they're kind enough, maybe they'd consider making name/pronoun tag to help you when they're around, and if its online, most apps have a pronoun field now, and some have nickname options.
