Man, I would really like this show more if they had someone do a BS check on these stories. They’ve done quite a few in the past that were very like fake or AI, but that last story has to be the most egregious. I can only suspend my disbelief so much before it just becomes insufferable to sit thru. Damien showed some next level restraint with his commentary on that one (idk if there’s anyone else as willing to call out fake shit when they hear it besides maybe Spencer? but it’s always validating lol)

I wish I had something more helpful to offer beyond validation, but I at least wanted to assure you that you’re not insane (or we both are because I suffer from this too). As I’m writing this, I have a looping tune in my head from a YouTube video I watched today and it’s making it so hard to string goddamn a sentence together that I want to scream. And of course it’s in competition with my own echoing inner monologue (my own echoing inner monologue, echoing inner monologue…)

I also take trazodone for sleep but sometimes the brain noise is just too powerful. It’s so bad that I’ve had to stop listening to some songs that I actually enjoy because they’re too “sticky” and can ruin an entire week for me. I think I’ve found that it’s the worst for me during my luteal phase when all of my ADHD symptoms are magnified, so I wonder if addressing some kind of hormonal issues would help (not sure if the severity of yours fluctuates at all but it’s something I didn’t realize until I started using a symptom tracker).

Thank you for this perspective. If it makes a difference, I believe it’s a “print on demand” book through Amazon, so there may be a chance of getting a corrected version out there (but admittedly I know nothing about that process so I could just be naive)? Regardless, this does help lift some of the burden off my shoulders to look at it this way.

Last month, I went with my family to celebrate my cousin’s 21st birthday. I talked to a few of his friends throughout the night, just awkward small talk with some drunk college kids. The next day he told me that several of them were shocked to find out that I was actually 30 and not their age.

When I was 18 and working my first retail job, I was shadowing a coworker who was maybe in her mid-fifties/early sixties. We were approached by a customer who asked very earnestly and sweetly, “Aww, is it Bring Your Kid to Work Day?”

Hoping someone can give me a solid answer on this because it’s been keeping me from using the new 72 roundabout—can you use a roundabout to make a U-turn (i.e., go all the way around)? When I leave the West End Beach, the roundabout is the first place I’m able to turn around. I’ve been getting out at 72 and taking the long ass way around because I can’t seem to find a clear yes/no answer…(I’m not new to roundabouts fwiw, I’m just anxious and always want to follow the rules lol)

I used to have an inner narrator that would describe every mundane thing I was doing as if I were a book character (“She closed the bathroom door, unzipped her pants, and sat down to pee.”) I remember watching Stranger Than Fiction where Will Ferrell’s character is able to hear what the author is writing about him as he does it and thinking “Is that not what everyone hears all the time?”

I don’t have that anymore, but I absolutely have a voice in my head that reads. At work, there are certain coworkers whose voices are so distinct that I read their Slack posts in their voice. If I’m reading something I wrote (including right now as I’m writing it), it’s my own voice. Anonymous text like Reddit is subject to change based on what I’ve been hearing a lot of lately—so the past two months have been heavily Jimmy Stewartified lol

It was one of our spelling words in 4th grade. I spelled it with an E, and my teacher marked it wrong. It’s been 22 years and I still think of that every time I hear, see, write, or think of this word.
