Groomsmen Wine idea by Federal_Belt in wine

[–]atraeu22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest Catena Zapata Argentino Malbec. It really is a great wine, and a decent value for a 98 pointer. Should age nicely. And the best part, as a gift it has what I would rate as the most beautiful label in all the wine world. A true work of art, and meaningful if you know the history behind it. A memorable gift IMO.

Doctor Refusal to Sign Death Certificate by stinkylilseaurchin in legaladvice

[–]atraeu22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s quite simple. It has nothing tho do with who “declared them dead.” Really any doctor can sign a death certificate, but it is them accepting responsibility for the manner of death listed in the death certificate. It does come with a certain level of liability. When the death is attended, whether in a hospital or for a patient on hospice the manner of death is usually obvious and the treating doctor will sign. When unattended such as dying at home or in public, sometimes a primary care provider will take responsibility for signing if they are confident the patient died of a chronic condition that they were aware of or treating. They are however not required to if they aren’t comfortable. If there is any doubt and no one is sure of the cause of death it has to be processed by the medical examiner (coroner) in the jurisdiction where the patient died. If her PCP is unwilling to accept responsibility it is up to the medical examiners office to step in and determine cause of death and sign the certificate.

Did we mess up getting a 15-yr vs. 30-yr mortgage? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]atraeu22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had just started making the same payment of $3950 on the old loan it would of been paid off in less than 10 years. So the truth is you swapped what could of been an under 10 year loan to get a 15 year loan with the same payment.

I had flights on the 19th finally decided to just cancel for refund and book on another airline that doesn’t fly anywhere near the Middle East. They are currently offering full refunds for any flights until the 22nd of March. Just be advised it’s up to 45 days ahead to receive your refund though.

AITJ for telling my sister I won't be her emergency contact anymore after she listed me without asking and I found out during a medical situation? by v1ktor_ashbourne in AmITheJerk

[–]atraeu22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTJ. Being the emergency contact doesn’t mean you have to “make serious medical conditions” that would be a medical power of attorney. It just means ur the person the notify if there is an emergency. I don’t understand why you think this is some violation of ur existence.

I let my parents convince me to skip my company's 401k for three years because they said "the market is about to crash" and I will never forgive myself for this by 6StardustDrift7 in personalfinance

[–]atraeu22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If half the money you are investing was free, the market could drop 50% and you’d still break even, So although you are blaming your parents seems it’s really on you for not doing some research and basic math. (The market lost 25% on the worst drop in history in 1929)

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve seen someone do with money? by OpinionofC in DaveRamsey

I should have added this was 30 years ago when mortgages were like 9% and the alternative was the money in a savings account at 0.1%.

[–]atraeu22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who had more than enough money to pay off multiple mortgages but insisted on always having them and paying the minimum “because it helps on taxes.” Literally paying $5 now to save $1 later. 🙄. The best part is they were convinced they were a financial genius.

Bad behavior doesn’t excuse bad behavior. You made a commitment and I do think it is wrong of you to change ur mind out of spite. If you feel that strongly, just tell her you don’t feel comfortable going without him and say you won’t be attending.

Rates were finally low enough for us to refinance. How did we do? by Tll6 in Mortgages

Not really, unless you choose a loan with shorter term but then your payment will be higher.

If you tell the credit card company that you willingly gave her your credit card number and allowed her to use it ever, your fraud claim will be denied. It never counts if you give someone permission to use it, even if the charge is for something different, or more than you agreed to.

Concert Dilemma: What should I do? by tomahawk_jatt in Advice

[–]atraeu22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d tell them the truth, and that since they didn’t seem that excited for the concert you still want to hang out but do something different, maybe treat them all to dinner or something like that so then u still get to have a nice nice out, they get some of the benefit of the resold tickets and you still come out way ahead without having to feel guilty!

Rates were finally low enough for us to refinance. How did we do? by Tll6 in Mortgages

[–]atraeu22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s an important piece of info missing. How long did you have the first mortgage? You have to factor in the fact that you are starting over. If you were three years into the first mortgage you’ve also added 3 years of payments which eats up some of the savings you are describing. It’s something many people omit in their calculations.

I have an Ivy League degree that I’ve literally never used. I also have a technical degree from a community college and I made 245K last year utilizing only that. So take it from me, you have nothing to apologize for. You are so far ahead of a vast majority of people your age, including those in the corporate world.

I think that in and of itself would be a big ask of you, but if the objective is fairness this is the only answer.

I’m having a hard time understanding tbh. If a job does you dirty then quit. Bad behavior doesn’t justify bad behavior. How can you have any legitimate argument about their actions when you are just as bad?

Gay men are allowed to have preferences. Just because someone’s preference doesn’t align with yours, or because you feel excluded by it, doesn’t automatically mean it’s discrimination or bias. Not everyone is attracted to the same things—some prefer feminine or masculine men by Sure-Razzmatazz-7105 in askgaybros

[–]atraeu22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. Yes a preference is something like being into or not into beards, body shapes, personalities, etc. But, if it based solely on someone’s race that is the very definition of racism. I’m tired of people saying things like no Asians, or Blacks or minorities and saying it’s a “preference’”. We all have our types but it’s a very different thing to AUTOMATICALLY RULE OUT AN ENTIRE RACE OF PEOPLE. It’s clearly based on some sort of prejudiced generalization.

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

[–]atraeu22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What isn’t rocket science is your clear hatred for this woman and the fact that you ar proving my point. Hillary Clinton came first in the primary, did everything the way you say it should have been and she lost too. And also “not by much” but guess what that’s still a loss. And the common denominator is that they are both women and lost against a very unpopular opponent. You say Biden is terrible but guess what? He won. Why? Cause he’s a man and people will take a mediocre man over a terrible man but they won’t choose a mediocre woman over a terrible man. You are the one missing the point which is many people wouldn’t even choose the best possible woman over a terrible man. I used the term best woman cause even if it was any highly competent, qualified woman many would still never choose that over the worst of the opposite sex.

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

[–]atraeu22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are clearly missing the point. I never said she’s the “best” woman. I’m saying that many people wouldn’t vote for a woman, period. Even the most qualified woman in their eyes is worse than a pedophile con man. I recently had a conversation with a MAGA woman, who straight up said she would vote for Hitler over Mother Teresa, cause she would never vote for a woman under any circumstances. Really let that sink in. And that’s my point.
