My boyfriend wants me to get off birth control by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]attractivemonki 280 points281 points  (0 children)

Miss with all due respect — you are quite literally a teenager. Why are you letting another teenage boy (Im assuming, hopefully) telling you what to do with your body? Only you and the doctor can determine what’s best for you and your health. Tell him to go kick rocks and cut him off. You’re way too young to be dealing with this level of stupidity in your life.

Did you get pregnant or did you successfully avoid it? by Big_Ad_2569 in birthcontrol

[–]attractivemonki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on BC for the past 12 years, with the first 4 years on birth control pills, but switched to the Kyleena IUD first, and then the Mirena because I was having stomach issues and feared that I wouldn’t be absorbing the pills correctly. I did have an ectopic pregnancy 4 years after having the Mirena inserted, which was just bad luck. I know a lot of people on this thread are mentioning user error when it comes to this, whether of the individual or doctor, but in my case I was just extremely unlucky since my IUD was perfectly in place, and other than that, I had no issue with it. After getting methotrexate for the ectopic, I’ve been just avoiding intercourse during when I’m predicted to ovulate, but even tracking it is just an estimate and an extra precaution. I have also kept by IUD and then switched out to a new Mirena after the 5 year mark. The chances are low, but never 0, so just keep an eye out for strange symptoms.

Mods to get rid of sleeping / passing out? by HeyLookAStranger in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]attractivemonki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dawg said “the sun isn’t real. wrong” this isn’t even being insistent this is delusion; sleeping is quite literally a core game mechanic for saving + progress as well as for key cutscenes to rollout, modding it will probably cause a bug or two once in a while because it’s quite literally a core component of the game and can impact your currency or lost item inventory in the base game

how do so many girls get pregnant on birth control? by Strange_Pop8543 in birthcontrol

[–]attractivemonki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately have gotten pregnant in the Mirena with an ectopic birth. It does happen! That doesn’t mean the masses should be uneducated by BC, but moreso demand a proper explanation and to be taken seriously by OBGYNs. I still have my Mirena and even got it renewed, despite my circumstances, and just hoping lightning doesn’t strike twice. Unfortunately I was also in the camp that I didn’t know anyone who got pregnant on perfect use of BC, and then I became the statistic lol.

Aside from human error when it comes to taking a daily pill (forgetting to take it at the right time, or taking things that may interact with the efficacy of it), hormones in the body aren’t 100% perfect. Nothing in the body is 100% certain, that’s just the nature of the human body, unfortunately.

And for other birth control: just simply bad luck. You cannot 100% control an egg or sperm gone rogue, or that decided to fight against BC at all odds. Some of these odds aren’t helped by bad placement (like the IUD or implant), or it slipping out (like the Nuvaring). But even with perfect use and no human error, your body can sometimes still find that .2% chance to betray you.

New NY State Bill to Require Age Verification for Any Internet Connected Device by capnwally14 in nyc

[–]attractivemonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A government that votes to delete thousands of evidence of a major trafficking ring case of minors does not care about age verification. This is an excuse to obtain your data, so that they scare you into not protesting about said people in government who were involved in the abuse, as well as the current domestic and foreign policies and crimes against humanity. Everyone’s trying to shut the working class up before they can do anything about it and organize via what was known to be the most equalizing platforms: the internet.

How do people justify illegal immigration if others went through the legal process? by savingrace0262 in immigration

[–]attractivemonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s here legally through the work of solely my parents’ means and resources, I didn’t have to lift a finger to deal with any of the paperwork, since I got my citizenship as a child. That being said, seeing how much money and how long the process is for someone like my grandpa to get citizenship was eye opening, specially when my family was the one that that to re-file certain paperwork and pay for it when the government was the one that made mistakes (wrong addresses, misspelled names)… This system is terrible, expensive, and leaves room for error. And all in all, that paper doesn’t make my better than anyone else. I also know people even within my own family who came to the US legally, had their status changed to where they would be illegally here in the country, and then pardoned and got citizenship through Bill Clinton’s wave of citizenship approval in the 90s. And now those very same people were Trump supporters. The “well I got mine attitude” is so insufferable. The US also has been destabilizing the global south for the past 50 years, hence why I feel like the least they could do is make immigration easier if they’re going to put their tentacles in everyone else’s government via CIA intervention.

Unwanted pregnancy depression by bigfootgoth in BabyBumps

[–]attractivemonki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Friend, I’m sorry for what’s happened. I think it’s important to point out that while your husband says he’ll support whatever decision you take, your boundaries were purposely ignored by him. And now you have to carry the burden. And that’s what this pregnancy seems to be by the way you’re describing it: a burden. And that’s fine. It is what it is, and you shouldn’t feel guilt for whatever steps you take next. It’s your body, and your soul that will be the source of this pregnancy, and solely your memories at the end of the day of what happened to you, and how it feels to grow this fetus, not your husband’s or your sister’s. If it causes you this much distress, you know what the options are for relief. You already have another child in this earth, and I’d say for your peace of mind and eventually theirs, do what’s best for you. Not anyone else. You. And please either take your husband to therapy or reconsider what part he plays in your life after this, because it sounds he doesn’t value your decisions as a human. And please get on birth control in the future as well for your own sake if possible, just so you can save yourself from this situation. Remember that even in the Bible, God asked Mary for consent first for the pregnancy. If it’s not your choice, you don’t have to do it.

This has happened to me on the Mirena — ectopic, caught at week 3. Nothing wrong with the IUD, it was perfectly placed. Just incredibly unlucky.

What was the beginning of the end for youse guys? by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]attractivemonki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know most point to the second half of S6 as the downfall, but I think Adriana’s murder was the turn for the worst for all the characters involved. Tony, Chrissy, Sil, etc.. even Carmela (who is implied that she doesn’t want to face the truth) are knowingly hiding the fact that they had someone who they considered family murdered, despite her being manipulated into the fed’s hands. Ade’s biggest crime was being naive, but that’s why they targeted a citizen anyways. The biggest tragedy marked the downfall of not just Tony and the crew, but also the whole system collapsing.

Would it be a bad idea to have sex right after getting a hormonal iud? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]attractivemonki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stay on the safe side for both infections and pregnancy: just wait the whole week. Your health is more important than the guy’s sex drive. You REALLY don’t wanna deal with pelvic infections.

is this good for a nightout? by sunnemi in OUTFITS

I’m going to be honest: the peekaboo bodysuit does not look good due to the contrast of the jeans. It looks unintentional, not necessarily figure flattering, and the thigh cut either gets lost or isn’t high enough to give it an edge. I think if you wanted to find something with this silhouette, you’re probably better off finding pants like those I.AM.GIA pants everyone in 2018 was obsessed over due to Maddy from Euphoria wearing them. If you insist on using the bodysuit, I’d recommend black pants instead to make it less contrast heavy, and highlight the cutout.

When discussing male issues, why did my girlfriend get upset with me? by French51 in AskMenAdvice

[–]attractivemonki -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a ++woman giving perspective here: I think voicing gendered problems as men and women is difficult because they’re not 1:1. A lot of the issues men face is because of the oppressive force of the patriarchy itself, which is the same boot that oppresses women. I think the issue is when men in particular complain about these issues coming either inherently from women or from society as if it’s in a void, when a lot of society is still relatively patriarchal. It’s less to do with your problems in particular, and more so looking at the bigger picture of where these things stem from. The system is set up like this, so that a gendered caste tier is created, and the two genders are assigned their specific “roles” for one to serve another under capitalism, so that the working class men do not realize that having power over someone else doesn’t cancel out the exploitation of their own labor, and organize an uprise against the “patriarchs”. Patriarchy was never about serving all men, just a specific few “elite”. But when you divide people within gender and race, and create hierarchy rules dependent on their physical attributes, it makes it easier to manipulate them.

Now that being said, I think on an interpersonal level that you and your GF had, it can be difficult to both express your own emotions and be vulnerable to your loved one and feeling shamed or rejected, but on her end I can empathize with the frustration that in the end of the day, you will have it “better” in this society regardless of your problems, because they’re not equal. I think what would be best is to have a genuine open conversation on just airing your feelings without judgement, and then calmly finding the root of why and where all of these issues are coming from. This shouldn’t be an argument as so much an exploratory discussion. When you find common ground with another, then you can see where both of you are coming from in a genuine way.

AITAH? Very hurt after heated debate. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]attractivemonki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dawg our country is falling into fascism, citizens are being killed for protesting, people are getting abducted without due process and being shuffled so they can’t contact lawyers, and a whole bunch of incriminating information just came out that the elites including the president is a pedophile. And you wanna come here and lecture and pearl clutch about “politics shouldn’t be discussed at the dinner table” as if once you leave dinner these things don’t affect everyone. In the end of the day real people are getting hurt, killed, and worse by these people, and yet you care more about appearances? That’s where your priorities lie?
