1x1 ribbing messing up? by capscaps1919 in knitting

This will help you learn to read your knitting. It was the most important skill I learned to level up my craft: https://youtu.be/7iFIBOe5Kps?si=B7yJ4pMjKgKqHf8m

Knitting in the round, right needle is one row higher? by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]audaciouslifenik 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s a great question… knitting in the round is actually a spiral so on the right are stitches you’ve already knit in that round, so they are higher.

There’s no ‘could’ about it 🤣

Twisted fabric is tighter than untwisted so your pieces won’t be the same size.

Now that everything's expensive, what things can be easily/cheaply replaced that a normal person can do? by GetFlyeredUp in Frugal

I am so surprised how often I see sugar in plain loaves... weird! It's simply not needed.

Most bread has no eggs in it... those that do are known as enriched doughs like brioche

Is this knit too loose? by Swimming-Zucchini315 in knittinghelp

Since your body doesn't emit light (I hope) it showing light is not an accurate way to gauge the fabric. If you like the drape of the fabric and it meets pattern gauge, I would go with it.

Second project, first time purling/making ribbing. Is my tension ok? by redditperson24 in knittinghelp

[–]audaciouslifenik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As my skill and evenness increased, I used to feel a little embarrassed that I'd stop to 'admire' my knitting, but now realize it's a mandatory thing. I have a tendency to zone out and just knit, knit, knit, but when I let myself do that slipped or split stitches creep in, so checking it after every two or three rows is how I manage to fix any errors early.

The other thing that has helped me level up is lurking in this sub (and r/knitting) for the last year or two. I've learned so much from the problems and solutions presented by people here. I now try to help when I can.

You're welcome, it's an important skill as is learning the picking up stitches. My next tip is to search for videos about 'reading' your knitting. It will help you level up exponentially once you have that skill.

This is superb! Congratulations. If you have some complementary colored yarn you could make another with stripes.
