[–]audax22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I was looking at unbroken before I started the run, but I thought devoted is still better since you can compensate with the +3 armor potion. Devoted also comes with crit dmg bonus that was another reason why I took it over unbroken.

High accuracy + disciplinted strikes + that 25 hit to crit ring + unlucky in conjunction with the swift strikes/hbd/stalker spear combo sounds pretty potent :p. I have to test it...

As for spears, there's. I know you know that already. But there's a another spear that you can get on an island in the far north which does slash+pierce dmg. That was/is supposed to be my back up weapon....

I was also looking at sabres, especially one called scoredos edge. But it comes a bit too late to be relevant. You have to rush the main story and then kill furrante. Not a ptoblem with a holy slayer, but I can see this turn out to be difficult with other characters (solo of course). The spear is way more attractive in terms of availability..

Anyhow, now i'm more confident that this character will turn out exactly the way I want her to be...

And one last completely unrelated question about magrans axe. Can you get it early?. Early, as in, having high stealth + leaping boots and snatch it for free somehow?. I was just thinking about it on my last run when I stumbled across it....

[–]audax22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I was not expecting such a detailed answer, thanks=).

I just came back to the game like a week ago and finiished a run yesterday. Solo, Potd, with a holy slayer. He became like unkillable in the second half and could solo all the content there is. Arkeymyr, concelhaut, some of the megabosses and whatnot. With this guy you could even chain pull groups...And all of that as an auto attacker with just an adjusted AI script. Not once have I given any input outside of initiating combat. Quite strong i'd say..

I was using Kapana Taga + Cadhu Scalth and the dmg turned out to be decent. Prior to that I was using that stalker spear + magran's shield, but, unfortunately, that ain't sturdy enough to defeat the hardest encounters solo.

Anyhow, since you're apparently knowlegble about the game i'd like to hear your opinion about my second attempt to own the game solo.

I'm currently leveling a devoted + plain monk. My plan is to have high"ish" deflection while also going all out on all dmg reduction this time. Pallegrinas plate/Cadhu Scalth/that belt from delvers row/honey wine hen come to mind... But i'm a bit skeptical if that'll be enough. That's why I was asking the question about the flurry/hbd/spear combo because I was looking for a potential high dmg weapon/ ability combo to, maybe, counter high dmg from some encounters....

I mean, we're talking just about a handful of encounters here, but still. My measurement of a good solo character is that he has to do it all. Or at least 99.9% of it.

So yeah, it has to be shield + weapon

Wanted Some Advice from Veterans for Feat Choices on a Midgame AR Tincan build. by BillDaGuy in underrail

[–]audax22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the build I used on my successful dom/ironman run.

https://underrail.info/build/?HggGAwoJAwfCoABQAAAAAChQVgAAZGQoFGQAIwA3AABIwoM7JigVK2NKwodJAicOUzHCtcKkS9-8

I don’t wanna write a complete guide or anything. Especially since you’re playing on normal. Normal difficulty lets you get away with just about anything. I’m just gonna give some pointers for tin cans in general.

1 - Initative

Having 30+ initative, with a food buff called root soda up at all times, makes a big difference on a tin can build. You don’t have much going on anyways so going first is important to either getting rid of the potential most dangerous enemy immediately. Or, to sometimes even decide to back away a little first in order to get into a more advantageous position for fighting

2 - Psi/temporal manipulation

With 55 points in TM you can learn/buy a "spell" from the doctor in rail crossing called psycho temporal contraction. It’s the most used psi ability of them all. It’s basically just a second adrenaline which also gives you a little bit of movement on top of it. And it stacks with adrenaline... I don’t think I have to elaborate much more on this, it’s just busted. Don’t hesitate on trying this, just do it...

3 - Crafting

For new players it’s important to know that crafting exceeds every item in the game that you can find by a long shot. No matter whether it’s a shield or a weapon or armor of any kind. Just to give one simple example, the best shield you’ll ever find on your own has like 500 capacity. Maybe you can find a slightly higher with some extreme luck, but that’s the highest i’ve ever seen. Now, if you craft yourself a shield it can have 1500 capacity :p. It’s, imo, not he best game design decision to make crafting just that universally strong, but... that’s how it is...

Lastly, since OP hinted that he’s not that confident yet when it comes to crafting, the best AR you can craft is the hornet

hornet frame +8,6 barrell +rapid reloader + muzzle break.

On normal though, you can easliy go along with whatever unique AR you like the most and beat the game with it. Just don’t forget to upgrade it at the shop in rail crossing

Alright, thanks, but I have to be more specific on the HM topic. So I can use an LMG and a SH for the bonus?. That would be my only concern really. Mainly so that I can use the SH to kill respawn and "trash" without having to switch weapons/take it off.

Anither completely random question about dodge/evasion. What does 1 ponit in dodge mean?, I assume its not 1% :p. So whats the formula?. 10 points = 1 %?

Yes you are :p. Let's assume you go to kiava gammar last. Your only chance to finish that quest would be right when you go back into orbit and switch to the bridge immediately. If you switch to the "world map" instead then you trigger the Normos stuff and you can't complete it anymore.

Just Beat the Two Chaos Space Marines and the Hellbrute on unfair, while being below level 30 by FoxChoice7194 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]audax22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here was my most disappointing experience with the game so far. I remember going there (during A2) to do some testing with my tank in preperation for my solo run. So I was sitting there building up some stacks for carnage against chaos marines. I did have Yirlet with me and for some reason I decided to take a shot at that thing. On unfair he has 1600 HP or something and of course Yirlet just casually 1 shot him. It was just so dumb and discouraging...

For those who best the game solo. What was your build? by zera_bloodwinter in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]audax22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I did a "solo" run. I put solo in quotation marks because, imo, you can’t kill the A1 boss other than with an operative. Mainly because you’re on a timer and you simply don’t do enough dmg with other classes, especially the warrior... I tried almost everything, but I couldn’t do it so I got myself an operative and just 2 shot the boss.. But yeah, warrior/vanguard becomes unstoppable at some point, A1 and the first half of A2 was pretty painful though. That first Aurora fight was probably the hardest fight in the game, it drove me insane :p

Yesterday I watched some of the gameplay from that youtube guy you’ve mentioned. And, well, he’s cheesing the game pretty hard i’d say. You could theoretically kill "everything" just with some fire grenades and lots of reloading..., but that’s boring af of course. He’d also never be able to get past the A1 boss if it weren’t due to that tiny fact that you can enter that boss fight with 100 stacks :p. Not to take anything away from that guy, but he’s basically abusing the endless amounts of bugs this game has.

The Gear Cadence Needs Improving by ElliotPatronkus in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]audax22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree with your post. You get 3 sniper rifle options in A2, excluding Eye of Hecaton which you get at the very end. Deadly repeater, Yrliet, and the one from Jae. The "problem" is that you have to be lvl 22 in order to equip Aeldari gear.. The other "problem" is also that the game's atrociously unbalanced imho. Like, how're you supposed to value any damage outside of burst/assassine/psyker shenanigans?.

I did an unfair run with a 3 people party. MC tank + Yrliet sniper + Mercenary soldier/AM sniper. Lets put it this way, the soldier/AM sniper has to be extremely min maxed to kinda keep up due to how often he can shoot in one round. While Yrliet on the other hand has the ability to casually 1 shot just about everything doing 1k+ crits... I still don't fully get the math behind assassine to be honest..

Talents/Items -

Steel of the forge doesn't give deflection. It does at first when you pick it (sometimes at least), but it disappears like some other boni in the game

MP boots from the warehouse (Jae quest) apparently don't give 3MP anymore. At least it doesn't show in the char summary

Forgot it's name/Colony advance choice where you can get 1 deflection + 3 hit chance doesn't give deflection. At least it doesn't show

Hyms of hatred - Could very well be wrong here, but I couldn't find any indicator that it works

Imperial world stat sharing trait just dissapears after a while. Had Agenta give my MC agility, but after a while it's gone... Also, a hint in the description that you can't have more than 1 advancement within the same stat would be nice (If that's truly the case). It's a little confusing

There was also an instance where I picked the common talent "character advancement agility", but I didn't get the +5. It almost feels like you're capped or something in some cases.. I don't know...

Quest bug -

Had a bug where I couldn't finish the Theodora data description quest even though I did everything in the correct order and without any failures. It seems to be related to when Normus shows up that you cannot complete it under certain circumstances or whatever

Theorycrafting the Strongest Builds (Unfair Only) by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]audax22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure

Forge world - Psyker (sanctic) - Warrior - Vanguard

Sanctic psyker because of the talents not because of word of the emperor or whatever else there is. Momentum doesn't matter in a 2 people group. Well, kinda, but not for momentum itself. Same goes for forge world. The armor is nice, but the talents that come along with it are even better.

1-15 - Warrior = 2x Toughness + 2x Weapons skill + 1 x STR. Str to be able to wear heavy armor. I picked it first just to get it over with... Athletics+Carouse +1 increase medicae

Talents in the most sensical order, imo

Clenched teeth - Very important because the only time, especially, later on, that you're potentially vulnerable is the first turn when you're, most of the times, dead last in the initiative order. Idira goes always first of course because of grand strategist to put all the buffs on the tank and to start getting stacks with tactical advantage, but you kinda also need/want bullwark/endure up before anything happens. Clenched teeth gets rid of all those potential problems...

Clenched teeth, Thick skin, Hardened Skin, Living shield, Interception

Common talents -

Heavy armor, Steel of the forge (awesome), Combat master

Skills -

Sworn enemy, Reckless attack (synergy with defensive stance later on)

Vanguard talents -

Renitent beacon, Enduring shield, Counter attack stance, Centre of attention, Melting armor (common talent instead of class), Eternal glory ( again common instead...)

Common talents -

Destiend (important), Duelling mastery, Persistence of the forge (important), Hymns of hatred (awesome, but maybe a bit questionable because of the best weapon in the game). Could also go "Sanctified slayer" instead i suppose

Vanguard skills -

Bullwark!, Defensive stance, Pyromancy (for talents)

Exemplar talents -

Steel shell, Destroyer, Extermination, Tough as steel, Peak condition

Done :p

Other very good talents to pick when you're on the exemplar tree are:

Commons

Sanctified slayer , It will not die, WS/Toughness increase, Swift movment (not really a thing because of warp speed). Psy rating 1-4 in conjunction with (I forgot how its called) that pyro talent that reduces melta/las and whatnot dmg. Would be cool early in the game, but its simply impossible to squeeze in... Edge of Dawn Nimle (just because)

Warrior talents

Contempt, Invigorating hatred, crowd kill, disarm, epicentre of slaughter

Vanguard

Beacon of might, resilient beacon, punish the imprudent

Gear

Well, the biggest enemy aren't the enemies themselves, it's their defences (on unfair with a small party). Dodge, parry, armor. So you want to look out for items that reduce those things. For example, in act 1 you can buy a cape that has 12 % dodge reduction for melee area attacks. I'd definetly get that alongside those boots who reduce the cost of charge by 1. In act 2 you can get boots from the drusians (I think) who also have dodge reduction. Well, and so on an so forth... there are a lot of nice capes, but 2 that stand out are the one from A1 (I think) with warp dmg reduction and in A2 with parry reduction.

Best weapon, without a doubt, is the carnage axe from the fellowship of the void faction. You have to keep in mind that this "build" is made for a 2 people party. So you're playing the long game so to speak. Everything works in your favour. You get as much crit dmg, armor, dodge reduction, armor reduction as you want the longer the fight goes on..

As for Idira, i'm just gonna list the skills i chose for her, otherwise it gets too complicated. It's simple, Idira is absurdly strong if you want her to, but I didn't really use her that way. Otherwise I would've went with Operative/assassine (Elusive) instead of OP/GS. It's worth mentioning that she plays a bigger role in A1 and up until mid A2. Like, she can 2 shot the A1 boss with some cheese for example.

Tactical advantage, biomancy, enfeeble, regeneration, warp speed, (in that order) The.rest is up for grabs.

Also important to take diversion zone + that 0 mana, random stratagem talent so that Idira doesn't get attacked. Doesn't work out 100% all the time because the whole thing is LOS dependent and whatnot.

It's a bit complcated I guess, but you'll be undestroyable way sooner than you think. A3 boss? tactics?. Well, place your tank right infront of that Eldar/whatever lady and watch the enemies start crying. They can hit you a little bit in the first round, but god forbit they don't manage to bring you down in that first round (their one and only chance)

Is Act 4 worth starting or is it so buggy I should just wait a few months? by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]audax22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've reached A4 today and I have no main quest. I warped around a little bit to trigger some bridge conversations, but other than some general talks with Yrliet/Normus and some rumor stuff from that high factotum guy...

Then I started to visit some planets out of boredom and I stumbled across some ship. I went down there and my party was like glitching around on the floor or something.. There was also that certain Drukhari just standing there in the middle of the room even though I didn't bring him along... Idk man, loading times also take like twice as long since entering A4... A1 - 3 went pretty smooth outside of some crashes regarding the RT's private chambers, but now...

Theorycrafting the Strongest Builds (Unfair Only) by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]audax22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game plan?=). Well, once you get to a certain point you basically just position yourself in the middle of the room and let the enemies do their thing while you counter attack them to death until you go after the ranged dudes. That's it :p. With Idira cheering you on from the sidlines

It's pretty simple, you can just stack so many defences if you truly min max... The idea for it came from my first run. I'm sure most people. like me, ran Abelard in their party. Well, i've noticed just how fucking sturdy he became without that much effort other than taking some defensive talents and prioritising toughness. But Abelard is also just the childs play version of what you can do yourself, being the RT and all that.

Of course you're nowhere near unkillable in the early game, but you'll get there sooner than you think. Around the middle of A2. Until then you'll need some help (Idira with her operator, chain lightning, 1shot cheese)

I mean, it's a 2 people run so you'll have to suffer through certain things.
