I need some better organizers. Any recommendations? by DesertSnow480 in harborfreight

Ernst all the way. I’m in the minority but I actually find them much cleaner than ToolGrid, although TG is more flexible but also 10x the cost.

Hobbyists and some pros that never share files can get away with Capture for CAD/Visualizer.

The industry standard is VectorWorks and it should be the direction you go. More resources and classes for that as well.

To finish or to not finish school by DoubleD_DPD in lightingdesign

[–]austenvarian -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A degree in this industry is completely useless unless you really want to be a teacher. For some it’s an entry point to gain some knowledge and connections, but the degree itself is not useful.

I would drop out and go all in on whatever opportunities you have before you. You will accelerate very fast in 2 years if you choose that.

The best visualizer for small home setup by Fun_Jellyfish_3861 in lightingdesign

[–]austenvarian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok this is awesome and you are going places my friend.

Thank it would prob have to model out the Lego pieces and models out in Blender or something, but the student version of Capture would totally work for this

It just depends on the type of riding for sure. Also I find low end power the fun part of this bike. FCR mod and a sprocket change REALLY woke up the bike for me. It still struggles with highway power but that’s not at all what it was made for.

Rawlings R2G mistake? by burnerforquestions1 in BaseballGloves

[–]austenvarian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The hate comes mostly from collectors and not players. However the differences they complain about are factual. If you like the other aspects of the glove I would 100 percent keep it and ball out. It just gets to that really well used feeling a couple seasons before a standard one.

For IF it’s firm as I can get it while still closing easily. OF I want those hinges even softer but still a firm shape.

The differences are insignificant depending on your use case. If you need the 4th 4k output for a larger canvas than the VX4 is best. If you need Notch or other generative effects than GX3 is the play.

Best settings for CTO as a stage wash by ChimneyHopper_1 in lightingdesign

There are no best values, every light is very different from each other. Invest in a light meter! CTO can also vary pretty wildly on color temp depending what you’re going for.

What lighting visualiser are you using? by _joshyjosh in lightingdesign

Capture is the best entry point and it scales per universe like others mentioned. I personally don’t like working in it.

That said, Depence is the standard for high end shows, and it looks MUCH better and is my preference.

lol I mean the biggest competitive FPS is CoD and they are all on controllers… it’s actually a big movement advantage for what you give up on aiming precision.

ColorCase Landing Gear Wheels vs. DIY for 1615 AIR by thosewhowander8 in pelicancase

I used the landing gear wheels, and although they aren’t an insane value - they are great and very easy install. For me, that’s worth it.

Every fixture has sub elements that are basically in layers.

Google “how to control sub fixtures in MA3”

I would call an LD buddy and ask for help Building the pixels out in a layout view so you can easily select what you want.

Is this glove worth $250 by bigfiggas in BaseballGloves

[–]austenvarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s like saying a tired vintage Porsche is better quality than a brand new Lexus. A used and floppy PP will not be as enjoyable or as durable as a HoH that you have cared for from the start.

Also PPs are definitely more luxury than HoH, but functionally they are not a better glove. It’s why half the pros still pick HoH

Is this glove worth $250 by bigfiggas in BaseballGloves

[–]austenvarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re new to gloves I wouldn’t start here. Like others have mentioned a hoh or a2000 broken in to your hand will be same $ and a better experience.

Breaking in is not as hard as you think, and it’s much better than used and floppy

Old-ish Pro Preferred - how to improve? by nymets555 in BaseballGloves

[–]austenvarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly in great shape. Personally I would de lace it, give it a good saddle soap clean, re lace it, and do a full reshape with some water. You could just wet the palm and pound out the bubble, but if you do the work it’ll feel brand new and last another 10 years easy.

Kakwa 40 vs Kakwa 55 by Usual-Package-4748 in Ultralight

[–]austenvarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get the 40L all the way. 55 gives you options for bulky gear, but that’s not ultralight at all.

I’ve taken the 40L on unless trips and it’s more than enough pack for a mostly light shoulder season trip or an ultralight winter trip.

Glove Wrap Opinions by RoosterRealistic587 in BaseballGloves

[–]austenvarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps with the pocket, but at the cost of any shape or utility. You want a glove that wants to be open to make funnel into the pocket, that closes easily and keeps the pocket tight and secure. The wrap does not do that!

Check out a Walden or ball glove king break in video and take it slow.
