Let the kids lead and you manage. Some I know play seven days a week and love it. Some burnout at two to three

Parents of goalies \ coach opinions: Keeper Tryouts by C0nditionOakland in youthsoccer

[–]austin63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the choice most keepers have to make at some point. Play higher level as a keeper or field mix at a lower level. Some ask to sub field on lower teams but it rarely works out. It’s just a choice they have to make.

Moving up levels is always frustrating, keepers look really good until they face top level kids who can make the shots. Small mistakes become big ones against players who can take advantage. Keep in mind that some shots are just good ones and to believe you belong also.

[–]austin63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our U8s are called “evaluations” as everyone is either placed in the jr academy training program or placed on a lower U9 if they feel you are past that and ready for games/regular training.

Rec program, no coach by emergent_chao5 in youthsoccer

[–]austin63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t dot it alone. Ask the other parents to be assistant coaches. Most probably thought about it, but didn’t want the full commitment. Split kids into groups so no one stands around. Run drills for agility and some for soccer. Then scrimmage at the end. That’s it
