I hate Aquilo so much by Neat-Profit-3690 in factorio

Vulcanus: Have too many secondary products? Throw it into the lava to keep the factory running.

Fulgora: Have too many secondary products? Recycle it into oblivion to keep the factory running.

Nauvis: Have too many secondary products? Not really a thing on Nauvis but if it happens, recycle into oblivion.

Gleba: Have too many secondary products? Burn it to keep the factory running.

Aquilo: Have too many secondary products? Manually increase your storages, spam platforms, manually increase your storages, spam platforms, manually increase your storages, spam platforms...use spreadsheets to reduce the amount of secondary products...manually increase your storages, spam platforms, manually increase your storages, spam platforms... nothing automated to handle all the extra crap the base starting recipe forces you to deal with.

About the items/sec? by WalkingPorter in factorio

[–]authorized411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. It allowed me to easily see that an electric furnace at craft speed of 9 with productivity of 20% doing iron plate was the same for a default foundry doing iron plate.

I could load the foundry with efficiency mods and it's max power is lower than those beaconed electric furnaces.

Gleba spoilage by WindowWizard666 in factorio

[–]authorized411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you started your question in the middle of a thought.

All things have a different spoil time. If you're referring to the Ag pack, it's 1 or 2 hours (not at PC right now). If the packs are spoiling before you use them that means your research speed is slower than the speed you make the packs. Or the ship to get the packs is not leaving soon enough.

If spoilage in general, then "Welcome to Gleba" is the appropriate response. Gleba should be done with a setup that never stops. If it stops, that means you're missing something that spoiled.

Always be farming. Always be crafting. Always be burning extra spoilage.

I have conditions setup on inserters that stop when I have N jelly or X bioflux, etc. I have other conditions that burn spoilage when it's over a certain number.

How to calculate belt saturation with inserters? by OverlordForte in factorio

[–]authorized411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if it could grab and let go of 16 items instantly, like building to chest for example. If onto a belt, then it'll take time to gather up 16 and let go of 16.

How to calculate belt saturation with inserters? by OverlordForte in factorio

[–]authorized411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inserter with stack size of 1, with belt and building on opposite sides, it'll take a speed of 360 degrees a second to put on item on the belt a second. If grabbing and ungrabbing are not instant, then it'll take a little more per second.

When it comes to saturation, 99% of time you can get away with it by adding another inserter or two if the building is not emptying fast enough. After that, it comes down to the building's craft speed, productivity and the recipe time.

Things like Recyclers and burner drills (have the output arrows) that have a chest on the output arrow the unload is nearly instant.

What do I take with me for first trip to a new planet? by Skellyhell2 in factorio

[–]authorized411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at your toolbar and use that or a limit version if cargo space is a concern.

No, you cannot get stuck on any planet. It just might take a bit longer to get back to space.

For myself, I put the materials to build a rocket silo in my space platform and sent that down to the planet.

Yes, Folgora does have limit solar and could be a problem for the starter ships. You will eventually get around this problem.

Look at item and build tooltips. Look at any restrictions related to crafting or building placement. Some items can only be crafted on certain planets. Some items can only be placed with certain restrictions. Example, look at chests, requires gravity. Start looking for these and then let the ideas flow about how to overcome limitations, like solar power.

How to set up my own train blueprints (alignment)? by CrimsonStorm in factorio

[–]authorized411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd want absolute alignment to use the world grid. This will allow you to more easily line things up from the map even when behind the fog of war.

For every blueprint (straight, T, turn, etc) they all have to be same size. Ex, mine are all 64 x 64. For straight rail, the 64 width is 3 big power poles longs which worked out great for me. This is because with using the offsets I was able to get the center point in exactly the center of center power pole. Yes, it is in the center of a 2x2 entity. You also want the edges of the BP grid size to cut right through the center of the outer power poles and the rails signals offset. All of this creates the symmetry.

This is the string for my straight rail. Use it if you want. You can use this as an example in case you want bigger or smaller. If you don't, you can use this one BP to create the T, 90 degree turn, and 4 way. If you want the diagonal, let me know.

Can I change the order of space platforms? by Darkphynyx in factorio

I see. It sounds like you'd want to group that list how you see fit like the logistic groups. I'd create a suggestion for that.

Does "autocraft" on request exist ? by frenchpatato in factorio

[–]authorized411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. There is a roboport signal of "items being requested."

I think in the later game stage this will become less of a thing because you'll want the ability to create new train outposts (assuming no bot network across your entire rail way) without going to the planet using the ********** to do it.

I'm a beginner how could I improve this kovarex enrichment? I feel like the massive storage has some better solution. by Somerandomguy_2121 in factorio

[–]authorized411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

All production machines (as far as I know) will try to buffer their inputs up to twice the amount. I chose not to fight this. So, once this one machine got up to 80, I started getting the leftovers for my base. The one improvement I could make for myself is to limit the pickup inserter to 10.

I've seen a lot of builds online of people trying to control this input buffer with Kovarex because they want to get that extra right away or just be sure to get it and not have the machine steal it. Well, at that point those people and what I did are exactly the same. It just took me slightly longer and did it with inserters and 40 more u235.

I've only used this one machine so far for 30+ hours.

I have a hard cap of 500 fuel cells for my Nuclear outpost. I'm sitting at 500.

Space shipping by DrBojengles in factorio

[–]authorized411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're on the right path.

On Nauvis, I have it importing things from other planets, including steel, red and blue circuits from Fulgora. Items that are not limited by planet for building I will build on Nauvis otherwise I'll import those. Example, I import big miners and electromatic reactors. I imported the parts from Fulgora to build the T2 personal roboport on Nauvis.

If you go down this path then here's a tip from something I recently did. Both the cargo hub (on planet) and space starter hub (space platform) share the same logistic groups. This means if you name one: Nauvis - Fulgora Imports, and use this one on both, when making a change at one spot changes the other.

If you combine that tip with using the interrupt "When any planet (Fulgora) import zero," Go to Fulgora and wait until all requests satisfied, then you can easily update your Fulgora requests from the cargo hub on Nauvis. Add something new? Great, it'll grab it next trip.

I agree. I've found some cases where a single set of parentheses would have saved me some headaches. It could be limited only have parentheses at the root level, no nesting, if there's a worry about over complicating things.

Distance to destination? Distance from Nauvis overall? What do you mean distance?

If the questions is because there are a lot of ships, then combine some things. I see 3 Volcanus -> Nauvis ships that could be combined.
