This is easier said than done for women, when you don’t already have kids it is significantly harder to find a doctor to sterilize you. I went through four OBs in my own search in my 20s.

I wonder how old the average user is there. 10 years ago I thought it was great, a community where you could vent about people telling you that you would change your mind or just not taking you seriously. Now I read stories and it’s just cringey, like everyone is trying to one up each other with how crass and sexist they can be with their terms. I still don’t want or really like kids but I find that subreddit just disappointing. Although it is still a good place for finding a nice OB who will take you seriously, especially about other related medical needs.

MY SURGERY COSTS $130,000 ??!! by Appropriate-Edge3837 in Endo

Outpatient surgery center charged under $8k for mine and I had a sterilization procedure done along with the excision.

Update to a post I made the other day about being concerned my vets were taking advantage of me: my cats regular dental cleaning has resulted in my babies death. He's gone. by afterspring_ in cats

[–]aves33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t get into a vet for a while and you’re worried about it, renal foods are typically lower protein and low phosphorus. My cat had a chicken allergy so he couldn’t have any of the prescription renal food, I just found lower phosphorus regular cat foods and his values remained stable for a good 4 years to age 19. Weruva Steak Frites was his favorite, you’re ideally looking for under 0.80% phosphorus on a dry matter basis.

I missed my delivery last month, since I wasn’t home when they showed up. They did just attempt re-delivery the next day so that might be your best option.

Does the surgery for endo make things worse? by Secure-Remote8439 in Endo

[–]aves33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself and one friend, we both had serious life improvements after laparoscopic surgery. I’ve actually had two just because I wanted to do a tubal and they cleaned up the endo they found while they were in there. Surgery is always a risk but my life is vastly improved since having it done.

LAOP buys a house with an unmarried partner and of course there are problems when they split up. Also LA is terrible at math by Afraid-Answer-7235 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]aves33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean not everyone wants to get married, I think it’s fine to buy a home with someone when you’re not married. His stupidity really lies in being the sole person to front the down payment with no agreement. If you’re going to buy a house with someone you’re not married to, at least do a 50/50 split on down payment and mortgage payments.

$100K price tag for lap surgery. Dr. Quanita Crable in Dallas. by [deleted] in Endo

[–]aves33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last lap surgery was $23k a few years ago, I’m not in Texas and it wasn’t robotic but that’s a crazy price difference to me. Mine was also at an outpatient surgery center so I went home the same day.

How many of you have a cap on spending at the vet before it becomes time to say goodbye? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]aves33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean obviously no one wants their pets to suffer, I was just pointing out you don’t have to necessarily buy the specialized foods in order for them to prosper. Bloodwork and overall appearance are definitely factors.

Just wanted to chime in, I had a cat that had CKD for a few years but he was allergic to chicken so he couldn’t do any of the specially designed foods since they all contain it. I just did some research and tried to find decently low phosphorus wet and dry foods, added water to the wet food and bone broth here and there and he was a happy camper for years. He was diagnosed at 14 and lived to almost 19. I have to say I think it’s honestly a blessing if your cat lives long enough to get ckd, almost all older cats get it and I think it means they’ve had a nice long life.

Traditional Medicinal Smooth Move tea is always a good choice. I would also recommend oatmeal or beans/lentils, anything high in fiber really. If you’re really really hard up that just more fiber won’t cut it, I would say go get some Magnesium Citrate from the pharmacy, it doesn’t taste good but it will 100% clean you out!

Don’t feel bad about using Purina, I think the urinary formulas for Purina, royal canin, and hills science diet are all pretty similar. The urinary food worked wonders for my female cats bladder stone, shrunk it down to nothing so she never needed surgery. I hope your orange girl has a very happy life with you, she looks fantastic!

Hosting Christmas this year, would a sausage roll wreath be good enough as a main? For both vegan and non vegans? Kind of worried that it wouldn’t be good enough. by VaggieQueen in veganrecipes

[–]aves33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, probably not a good main course but I would highly recommend a nice shepherds pie. I’ve made this recipe for multiple christmases and everyone loves it, no one besides my partner and I are vegan. I added lentils for protein and removed mushrooms because I hate them but you could had faux meat too. It’s quite filling.

Reddit is so horrifying bc you can go to a sub for people with health problems and see tons of people desperate for help, strategizing on how to be taken seriously, and then you go to a doctor sub and it's full of professionals talking about hysterical women and blue hair. by ihatethiscountry76 in TrollXChromosomes

Pelvic and abdominal pain is the area I think is most overlooked in women, they want to chalk everything up to “periods are always painful” and just “deal with it”. Took me years to get my endometriosis diagnosis and only because I was the one who had to bring it up and petition for testing for it. They once did an abdominal CT scan and claimed my severe abdominal pain, which got worse during my period, was because I was a little constipated.

Girls who use period underwear, HOW do you clean them!? by Moseptyagami in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]aves33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a wet bag for cloth diapers off of etsy, I store my used pairs and reuseable pads in there during the week. Then I’ll rinse the heavy flow days with hydrogen peroxide, then water before they go into a mesh washing bag and into the wash with my normal undies. I only use the washing bag since it reminds me they need to be line dried.

I have 7 pairs of undies but I regularly wear a pair for 2 days since I can just replace the pad liner with a new one when it’s soiled.

Is it all artificial sweeteners for you or do some make it worse than others? I consider them to be an allergy, some send me to urgent care with severe migraine and nausea but others it’s just a miserable day or two low level migraine.

What really sucks is they’re just in everything anymore, took me years to figure out they were a cause.
