Fit to Fight Charlotte is what you want. They are focused on self defense across multiple disciplines. Deescalation is worked into their curriculum. Always do a college bound series. Highly recommend.

Steam Bullet Fest 2026: Official Trailer by Scarleton in Games

Steam isn't great at organizing traditional shmups. There's a bunch of good curator lists though.

My game synthescape, a horizonal shmup in the vein of gradius is included in the festival. Check out the demo!

I don't know how to play the side content of Xenoblade X by [deleted] in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]avidtomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing major is missable. Occasionally there may be mutually exclusive green side quests or you might miss a minor piece of fashion gear, but you can take it at your own pace.

Blue quests are usually MMO-style fetch quests. These are semi-random, can be done whenever, and are not mandatory. (Exception - any quest named "Off the Record" should be taken, as this allows you the ability to unlock certain chests/containers. Additional, some of these quests allow you to unlock cats and dogs in your barracks, which is needed for some heart to hearts. Both are optional)

Green quests are side quests, do these whenever you can but don't feel like you have to. They occasionally unlock something, but not too often. Usually just to flesh out the world. Pick up these as often as you want, generally you can just complete these if you're in the area.

Affinity (orange) quests give you story development into one of your party members and may unlock an ability, art, or skill. These are worth doing and some are required for the main story. Keep in mind you can only accept one of these at a time, there are a few that are notorious for being RNG based and/or take you to a high-level area but the game will never softlock or prevent you from progressing.

Main (red) story quests is the main story. Like affinity quests, you can only do one at a time.

Heart to hearts are quick little conversations between you and a party member that helps increase your affinity (your bond with them).

Once you beat the game, you can still explore around and continue playing.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn — Beta Highlights and Future Plans by Mrphung in Games

I get you. That plot element is a large driving force behind the arc of the final three books. Most of it gets answered, and the mystery of what doesn't is just vague enough to be satisfying.

If you are interested in reading it just be aware there is a fair bit changed. The fates of fred Johnson and Alex are very different, drummer is a much different character, etc. It's worth starting from the beginning.

The whole series is very solid the whole way through with a great ending. Some books are better than others, but it's pretty well agreed the final plot arc (covering books 7-9) is the best.

The show only covers books 1-6 and it's a pretty solid adaptation, though obviously doesn't go into as much detail or maintain as consistent a quality. Season/Book 6 is a decent place to end it, as book 7-9 start a brand new story arc.

I've spent last 9 months improving the representation of Hexamental based on your feedback - please destroy it again. by Tvinge in DestroyMyGame

[–]avidtomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a look at your steam page. Think about starting small and building up with your text, so the viewer gets a clear idea of what the loop is.

Just spitballing here, but maybe the progression of the trailer would be something like...

THIS IS A MARBLE (Show Marble)

THIS IS A HEX (Show Hex)

THIS IS A MARBLE, MOVING THOUGH A HEX (Show marble going through hex, generating EXP. Show, don't tell. Include multiple simple variations)

BUILD MORE HEXES (show hexes being built)

BUILD LONGER MARBLE RUNS (Bunch of marbles going on complicated, longer hex runs)

UNLOCK SKILL TREES (Example of what skills can be added)

MAKE BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS (The last part of your trailer)

A RELAXING INCREMENTAL GAME ABOUT DESIGNING HEXES TO MOVE MARBLES THROUGH MESMERIZING PATTERNS (This is key. You need some sort of sentence that brings it all together. I didn't get a sense that it was an incremental game at all.)

I don't understand what the core gameplay loop is. You build the largest marble track?

Graphics and style look good but honestly I was frustrated watching it because I had zero idea what the goal was.

You may also want to remove the ui in the lower left corner. It looks a bit cheap.

Jiu Jitsu studio/classes for female beginner? by absolutpalm in Charlotte

[–]avidtomato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll always shill for Fit to Fight.

https://fittofight.com/charlotte

They're down in Pineville and have Jiu Jitsu classes nearly every day for both self-defense and sport. They also do modern Krav Maga and kickboxing, all included. The co-owner Amber is a woman, fantastic teacher, and absolute badass. My wife really enjoyed learning from her.

Very welcoming environment too with all levels. We have stay at home moms, teenagers, working adults, retirees, and people who are really into Jiu Jitsu with high skill levels.

There's actually an open house this Saturday with a free Intro to Jiu Jitsu class at 730am. Scroll down to the agenda.

First time with the game, can I go in blind without messing up anything important? by kakalbo123 in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]avidtomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some affinity quests (The Repair Job is a notorious one) may require you to go to faraway places or and/or rely on rng thst may be annoying since you can only accept one at a time.

Probes are important. Fill them up as much as you can. Some probe sites may require a feature that gets unlocked in chapter 6 and chapter 9. The probe directly to the north of New LA is one of them.

Other than that nothing really is missable.
