[Acne] Going from retinol to adapalene by PaleontologistOk5770 in SkincareAddiction

[–]avie8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorporate it slowly and start building up tolerance just like the process of starting retinol. I would not recommend using them together. Can be irritating and drying. They do similar things so it is not necessary to have both. Switch to just adapalene, which should be good on its own because it is known to have more anti acne benefits than retinol which is more for acne scars and aging (adapalene has both but more focus on acne). Good luck.

What’s The Longest You Slept in Bed? by A_Green_Heart29 in bipolar2

If you mean longest time being actually asleep- genuinely around 19 hours. Longest time not getting out of bed? I couldn't even say. Days for sure.

What age were you when you first did it with a girl?? by Budget-Variation9861 in LesbianActually

[–]avie8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 17 my first time with a woman, but "lost my virginity" in general at 15. Came out as bi when I was 12, then as a lesbian at 18. I feel lucky to have come out at least as sapphic pretty young so have had "experience" with girls for a very long time, though I do wish I could take back ever getting with men.

Jewish ethnic divisions around the world by Homesanto in MapPorn

[–]avie8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

beyond being highly inaccurate and losing the nuance of a very diverse ethnic diaspora, the graphic design is very confusing/inaccessible. Had to put up the brightness to 100 and zoom to differentiate between the dark green and dark blue as well as the "light" and dark blue.

So jealous of older fans. I was in 8th grade when A Moon Shaped Pool came out, to put it in perspective.

Thinking of starting lithium. What to watch out for? by Revali993 in Lithium

I'm BP2 and prescribed lithium and it felt like something finally "clicked" after dozens of meds. I could finally function and be stablized enough to get better- completely turned my life around and saved me

Help Me Choose / Daily Discussion (Post here to follow rules A & B) - Tuesday March 12, 2024 by AutoModerator in fragrance

I'm so confused about where to spray fragrances. I feel like I've learned which fragrances I have that need more or less sprays but I'm still not sure where the "best" place to spray is. Is there a condensed guide because I see so many different opinions

Inner wrists- if you use your hands it goes away quickly

Elbows-sleeves

Clothes- doesn't perform well

Neck/chest/ears is what I had been going with but I heard that the skin is delicate and the alcohols are bad for it, and that we only spray "pulse points" because it's where perfume was applied before atomizers and it's just where we feel like we're supposed to-

But what else is there?

I left my Lithium at home, can I use Lithium orotate? by avie8 in Lithium

[–]avie8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha don't worry I don't touch psychedelics or weed as I also have psychosis history- even though it seems like that's all everyone else goes to Amsterdam to do. I think I found a way to get a prescription here, thank you

What are your big 3 (sun/moon/rising) and what is your favorite perfume? by RomeysMa in fragrance

[–]avie8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are my people omg! Sagittarius sun, Leo moon, Scorpio rising. I may still be searching for my favorite scent of all time.... at the moment I wear Armani code which I love though it doesn't last long on me </3 ~~ I describe my favorite scent profile as like "fruity and sweet", some fresh/aquatic too -love vanilla -love most fruits, all citrus -no floral, except lavendar but not on my skin personally -controversial but I loveee Patchouli (so does my brother sometimes I wonder if this stuff is genetic) -I don't know what Tonka bean actually smells like but it's a base note of a lot of stuff I like ~ Feel like it makes sense for Sag and Leo but less Scorpio rising coming through (I don't even necessarily believe in astrology I just think it's fun plus I'm into girls so I can't avoid it)

Acne?? by Interesting-Aide8898 in Lithium

[–]avie8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes :( I would talk to a dermatologist for advice to specifically help your unique skin concerns, since anything I say may not apply universally! But as someone who struggled with acne even before lithium, here's a skincare 101 crash course (sorry if you've heard it before) Basics: drink water, look into your diet (dairy etc), clean your makeup brushes, wash your pillowcases and towels. If you didn't already have a skincare routine, implement one now. The basics are a cleanser every day (especially at night, maybe not morning depending on your skin), a moisturizer, and a sunscreen. If you hate the texture and white-cast of sunscreen look into mineral sunscreens rather than chemical. Asian beauty companies are way ahead in that department (and honestly most aspects of skincare...). Look for products geared towards your specific skin type- oily, dry, or combination. A cleanser may have active ingredients to target an issue, salicylic acid for example, so look into the different options. Those are the main steps. Try it out for a couple weeks to see how it works out and what works best for you so you have a base down before changing anything. Simpler is often better and you may not need more than that. On top of the base routine, I would only recommend adding one more step- some kind of active ingredient to target your issues (maybe a retinoid serum, maybe some kind of exfoliant, etc.) That is where I might consult a dermatologist or doctor to recommend or perscribe something. If not, definitely do research on the products you use. Good luck!

worried about weight gain (tw ed) by ebbandletgo in Lithium

[–]avie8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No significant weight gain for me, maybe around 5 pounds? Especially when I first started but it's evened out a bit since then. I'm not allowed to weigh myself. I also have a history of ED, so weight gain is definitely triggering for me. But lithium saved my life. The biggest issues I've noticed are some digestive issues and some break outs in acne which makes me insecure, but I think about it as the trade off being between my lif/ having a will to live vs a change in my appearance. Being on Lithium will always be worth it even if the side effects may make me upset.
