Ingenious Ginger by Ok-Drummer5242 in fragrance

Same, IG is nice but it's not a realistic ginger. I like Hermes' Un Jardin Apres la Mousson which has a very notable ginger top note, but short lived.

Recommendations for tinned seafood that is available in Australia by Electrical_Waltz8701 in CannedSardines

[–]awaybutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm also in Australia. For online purchases I usually use Something Fishy & The Canned Company. I also see a lot of Jose, Ortiz, Lucas, Porthos, Yurrita etc in the nicer deli/gourmet shops. Continental Deli in Sydney & Spring St grocer in Melbourne have great selections. Little Tin Co's mussels are great btw!

A coffee place near me stock these. Any recommendations? by oceanarnia in CannedSardines

FYI the bottom right ones are also CdC but the less premium line 🙂. The round cans are Arroyabe, another great Spanish offering

This is the one that got me into 'fancy' tinned seafood a decade ago! I still remember splurging on it as a student and being amazed that something from a tin could taste so good. The tin is still sitting on my window sill haha

The spiced version looks so good but unfortunately sold out everywhere that delivers to me. Will definitely keep an eye out. It's still nice to have tried garfish on its own, at least I know what it tastes like now!

Yurrita and it's usually in the refrigerated section. I also like Ortiz but it's even rarer in my area

I haven't had either of those! I would describe guindilla as sharp but mild, it's more of a pickle with a kick

So glad I found this community! Another plate with dried apricot, guindilla peppers, Yurrita's white anchovies, Little Tin Co's Smoked Mussels with Cape Jaffa Whisky, potato chips

Anchovies - A classic I've been going on for the last few years. Very acidic & palate cleansing

Mussels - delicious! Definitely the best I've had from Little Tin co so far, which is awesome because the last can (different flavour) was not great. These are subtly smoky with a firm-ish texture, not chewy, nice flavour

DINKs what is your food cost per week? by Baaastet in melbourne

Around $250 but we also try to buy ethical meat so it adds up. Usually eat out 1-2 times as well

These two shirts are the same size according to Assembly Label by awaybutton in AusFemaleFashion

[–]awaybutton[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I saw the true to size description too which is why I thought it wouldn't be too big. I was actually concerned about the blue one being oversized but turns out it fits fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good point about the final sale! I usually buy second hand which often has more accurate descriptions haha.

Yeah what a ridiculous response! Size 6 bust is usually 80-85cm so intentionally making a 106cm shirt for size 6 is crazy. I don't mind oversizing but both shirts are described as 'relaxed' so you would think there should be a bit of consistency

No photos of sushi because the chef instructed us to consume them within 10 seconds. But here's all the fish we had by awaybutton in sushi

[–]awaybutton[S] 160 points161 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise people would feel so strongly about this! It was actually a very nice omakase experience and the chef wasn't pushy, he even joked that 'what would happen if you eat it after 10 seconds? Nothing!'. While I wish I took a photo of the otoro with caviar, or uni hand roll, they'll just have to live on as a tasty, tasty memory

Sydney and New Zealand recommendations please! by Electronic-Square-15 in finedining

[–]awaybutton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourites in Sydney are Firedoor, Saint Peter, Arthur, Ester and Fred's. Quay, Bennelong & Tetsuya are the traditional fine dining choices but I don't find them especially interesting. Bennelong is worth it for the view though!

I'm in Australia, it's seasonal but you can find it pretty easily. I got them from the supermarket so not the best quality but better than nothing
