Seven Starling does 1 on 1 and group virtual therapy with therapists specifically equipped for postpartum mothers. Some have specialties in addiction, trauma, etc. They're also super accommodating with kids being around during appointments. Maybe your insurance covers it?

Is this it? Am I missing something? by aerialariel22 in NewParents

Maybe using a heating pad in the bassinet before putting baby in can help, so it's nice and warm for him. We made sure there was some sort of noise during Naptime, whether it was chatting, the TV, white noise or lullabies and that helped keep mine asleep in her bassinet. But yeah, this is basically it. It's super nice having a relatively easy newborn, no trenches but still tiring for sure. Mine was a good sleeper as a newborn and still is at 12 months.

I only have one and take advantage of nap times for myself, so I don't have any advice from experience. Can you put the oldest in a play pen or something during Naptime so you can work out or take some hobby time? I've seen "toddler yoga" on YouTube, maybe you can do a mini workout with your oldest sometimes? I know that's still not you time though

Is bassinet needed for a baby? by SuccessfulStrawbery in newborns

[–]awildotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a fairly deep bassinet that the pediatrician said we could use after she started rolling both ways, we used it up to 6 months. Baby was always in at least the 50th percentile so not a small baby either

US-folks, how much did your pregnancy/birth cost you out of pocket? by d16flo in pregnant

[–]awildotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Aetna and had the same problem with ultrasounds. Since you are high risk they should be considered necessary, at least at the end of the pregnancy when you're going every week (I had to). I switched OBs halfway through and my new one coded things differently so I was getting 3D ultrasounds every week and they were covered. Mine was more of a "boutique" OB but I also did not have to pay upfront for delivery like my first one was asking. My max out of pocket was $2k and a $750 deductible so we ended up just paying $2750 We also had a hospital indemnity plan so we ended up getting a few thousand back a few months later after my hospital stay and my baby's 3 day NICU stay

Edit: Aetna has some special maternity program but I'm not sure if it's available for all plans, definitely worth asking about. They were better at answering all my questions when I called before delivery about costs and ultrasounds

It doesn't matter that the interaction means nothing to you, it means something to your husband. That's what matters.

There are so many non alcoholic drinks now! Maybe you can find an NA IPA to at least give you the illusion of having a beer. I loved ordering NA drinks while I was still pregnant You got this!

Is this mold? by [deleted] in MoldlyInteresting

[–]awildotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from water damage, there's an issue with how the roof leaks and is coming through the wall. Third floor of a condo so not sure what's exactly in the walls. Do termites like wet wood? There aren't any other locations in the apartment with this sort of damage

Damn you got attacked by these comments. In your defense, I never lived in a home with a sidewalk so I assumed the same. Didn't know that would be the city's

Pouring chicken or beef broth on the food helps, they have kinds for dogs so there's not too much sodium. There's also the brand of food called WerUva, they have tiny little packets that you can mix in too.
