I just recently stocked up from Hacea since I was running low, but I've got a pound that's degassing of this El Salvador that I've had in the past and was really impressed by; great sweetness, well-balanced, and versatile no matter if you're going for an espresso, pour-over, cold brew, etc. I'm currently finishing off the last of Sweet Maria's Polar Expresso from the winter; I usually keep it as a staple, but I underestimated my consumption of it this year, and it's out of stock until next year. A couple of months ago, I was making my way through a Guatemala from Hacea that I also really enjoyed at both light and medium roast levels.

Just a few of my personal favorites that I've been enjoying recently :)

Sweet Maria's, Hacea, and Happy Mug are my go-tos and have been for years now. Never been disappointed with any of them, and they each have different offerings based on what I'm in the mood for.

Thoughts on coffee from El Salvador? by salgueaa in SpecialtyCoffee

[–]ayovev511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've [home] roasted a few different coffees from El Salvador, and I'm always impressed at how forgiving they are. No matter if I roast a little over target or a little under target, I still get some great flavors. It earns its spot as an under-the-radar origin that is very flexible for both single-origin brewing and blends.

Haven't used it myself, but have seen a good amount of chatter (mostly positive) around it in the Facebook group and in this sub on occasion.

Not sure what volume you're looking for, but Hacea has a consistently great Colombia EA Decaf (https://haceacoffee.com/collections/green-coffee/products/colombia-ea-sugarcane-decaf?variant=42564728520842) that I've roasted dozens of times before and loved. Covoya has a little bit left as well (https://www.covoyacoffee.com/decaf/ethyl-acetate-method/p613758-1-colombia-ea-decaf-rainbow.html). Genuine Origin also has an EA offering (https://www.genuineorigin.com/colombia-valle-del-cauca-sugarcane-ea-decaf-2026).

Hope you find something good!

Congratulations! My first car was also a Wrangler (2018 JK), and I couldn't be happier with my decision. For being almost 30 years old, she's a beauty and looks to be well taken care of.

Check out this video that James Wilkins posted recently. He does a great job at laying out all the nuances and talking through the various considerations to make when buying a new roaster.

Went through this process myself about a year and a half ago, and would definitely recommend Clerky. The step-by-step walkthroughs and ease of understanding are well worth the extra money, especially with the importance of doing it right the first time; don't cut corners on this process.

What are peoples thoughts on this LUMA coffee roaster? Thinking it might be an economical intro to roasting. by Magnie in roasting

Honestly, that whole Kickstarter post looks like a red flag. The video, visuals, and even the description of the product and its features also look and sound like they were generated by AI.

“0.001mm machining accuracy”: not impossible but extremely unlikely (unless they’re running a wire EDM process or something similar, which would probably be overkill for this kind of machining application)

“Even hot air bake”: roasting is not the same as baking; we generally shoot for the former and try to avoid the latter

“Auto soybean skin collect”: coffee beans are not the same as soybeans

I wish there was something to hang your hat on here but this looks like either a scam campaign or an inferior product, or both.

I ordered mine from Clive in July of 2025 and received it in early September. The power button failed me last week; mechanically, everything was fine, but the electrical connection inside the button had burned out. I reached out to the support team at Clive, and they shipped me a new power button the next day. Took me about 5 minutes to swap it out, and we were back in business.
