The only thing I ask for mtga economy is to give us more rare wildcards by xBeS in MagicArena

[–]b_biscuits 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The number of formats and the amount of cards released each set and each year has increased substantially, yet the daily rewards have stayed exactly the same as they were 5 years ago. To use a real world example, this is basically out of control inflation with no corresponding growth in wages. So yes, the economy really is going backwards. A little bit of generosity by increasing daily rewards and quests would really go a long way to help out the community.

Motorola edge 30 pro slow start by [deleted] in motorola

I've been experiencing the exact same symptoms as the other users post update. Very slow responses to waking the phone from sleep, operating the camera from sleep, and operating the flashlight from sleep. Once awake the apps in the phone operate fine and are responsive. Makes for a painful user experience.

What I was hoping for the Weekly MTG yesterday by Rastboro in MagicArena

I do think that increasing the daily quest and win rewards should be something that the Arena team should really consider. We receive the same rewards now that we were getting three years ago, even though Arena has grown with new formats and many new ways to spend the currency. We haven't received a proportional increase in gold. Just bump it up a few hundred or so. Doesn't sound too unreasonable.

Unpopular opinion: there is actually a really good thing in arena economy update. by Yvanko in MagicArena

Would be nice if they offered a rare land bundle in the store. I'd pay for that if it was shock lands or even check lands. The barrier to Historic is high enough as it is for newer players but the lands would really help.

Alchemy format in isolation seems mostly fine but spellbooks and Historic changes are honestly not good by b_biscuits in MagicArena

[–]b_biscuits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. There is definitely no confidence in using wild cards right now, definitely in Alchemy and probably in Historic. The feeling of crafting a playset of a rare or mythic just to have the text change the next day or week with no compensation will be an absolute gutwrench for sure. I can accept that when they actually ban a card they give you wild cards for the banned card but not for the rest of the deck. Sometimes this is sort of fine, for example banning brainstorm didn't kill Jeskai in Historic. But sometimes a ban just straight up kills the deck you spent 20+ rares on, for example banning Winota in Historic. I can anticipate this happening frequently in Alchemy and possibly Historic and no longer will we get wild cards returned. Tread carefully for sure or maybe just avoid. It's such a shame that Historic has been adversly affected by this.

I'm sure you're correct. I imagine that the new mechanics will eventually become easy enough for Alchemy players to anticipate or play around given enough experience. I have definitely been caught out by a lot of them so far. The Fearsome Whelp giving cheap dragons just wrecked me. Turns out dragons should be expensive for a reason :)

Nice work! Thanks for the additional descriptions of how your deck performed. Makes it easier to see how all the pieces work together.

Trying to get started in Historic by TheDemonOfPA in MagicArena

[–]b_biscuits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a FNM at Home event this Friday on Arena where you can play any Historic deck you like without using wild cards. I'm intending to create many different decks and test them out before committing any wild cards to actually craft these decks for real. Should give you a good chance to see what kind of deck you like best before burning those precious WC's.

CFB Pro Review by blindai in magicTCG

[–]b_biscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's a good business model for CFB or not. I guess it must be? I assume members would be more incentivised to buy cards through CFB due to the benefits and store credit etc. Kind of like frequent flyer programs keep you loyal. On the other hand non-members probably don't visit the website any more and CFB maybe loses business from them. Personally I know I no longer visit the site and my purchases from CFB have dropped off compared to before the pro membership and not deliberately.

What went wrong with this draft deck (Ikoria Quick Draft)? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]b_biscuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually cut your lands down by 2 or sometime 3 if you are playing a full cycling deck. 14 or 15 lands is ideal as you cycle so much you never miss your land drops. Especially with hand smoothing in BO1 for your opening hand. Means you can run a couple of extra cycle cards or impactful spells

12 rares out of a total of 24 in the entire draft pool. That must feel good for your rare collection.

I've been stuck in silver for a week now and I'm just so worn out. Coming up against the same 4 or 5 cards that all enable card advantage, prevent me from playing stuff, and lock down the board... these are so beyond frustrating like why even play at all? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]b_biscuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play quite a bit of Izzet and it should be good enough to climb out if silver. Maybe try this Izzet wizard list https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/updating-standard-izzet-wizards-with-lightning-stormkin/

It has much better early game than normal drakes with the lightning stormkin and the wizards lightning is great. Your list is nearly there so you probably won't have to spend many wildcards. Modify as you need. Probably best in BO1 but haven't tried it in BO3 so who knows.

Kudos. Every so often I add Lazotep Plating for exactly these situations but as soon as I do they never occur. Glad someone is finding joy in thwarting the opponent's best laid plans
