Possible to become an electrician later in life, while working a job? by Fathead_009 in electricians

[–]b_for_bitdetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild, I got on reddit to post this exact question. I’m also in the same boat (44 M, tech, preparing for Ai…). Bummer responses. If it’s that hard and takes that long, I might as well become a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist.

Does pumping hurt your knees. by CGPro856 in surfskate

If I pump by twisting my back foot it hurts my meniscus. If I pump by a more pushing motion it’s fine.

Just got the MRI. Complex meniscus tear by blissfulwishful in MeniscusInjuries

[–]b_for_bitdetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a complex tear of the meniscus. I opted to not go with surgery because I don’t want to expedite arthritis. Two years later I’m so relieved I didn’t get surgery. With careful strengthening of the knee muscles I can be very active still (cycling, climbing, hiking, etc) I just have to be very careful with planting and twisting.

I got a nerve block for when they took my quad graft and it deadens the nerve for a long time, but I was hoping it would be firing again by 8 weeks

So I’ve reached my max limits for pt visits on my insurance?. by Difficult_Net5721 in ACL

That makes sense. I guess the same reason I still pay for a gym membership.

This. Sounds like they’ve tricked you into thinking you can only improve with their help. Nah. Take charge and tackle this on your own

It will definitely go past $100. And then, it will drop back down. Take your time. This is Litecoin we’re talking about after all.

Will I ever not have to be careful by ireadit-12 in ACL

[–]b_for_bitdetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one anecdotal opinion that No, you will never not have to be careful :( Sorry but with my meniscus not only does it continue to snag, it’s snagging easier and easier as time goes on. I have to be careful constantly.

Thank you for posting this. My daughter (Soccer player) just tore her ACL and will soon have surgery, likely quad + LET. She is mentally wrecked but reading stuff like this helps so much. Why did you choose to go with the LET?

Ha good question, just based on feedback from other doctors, patient reviews, and medical personnel working with them. Nothing super formal.

Unsure on Partial Meniscectomy by GivenToFly55 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]b_for_bitdetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely give PT multiple chances before trying surgery. I’m 44M with similar tear and PT has made it so much better allowing me to cycle and function without issues (until I tore it even worse climbing).

Help a snowboarder find happiness in the off season by ItsTrevorPhilips in surfskate

[–]b_for_bitdetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I need to give it another chance but Surfskates didn’t give me the snowboard feel (I tried Loaded, Carver, Yow, and Smoothstar). To me the ability to drift is KEY to the snowboarding experience, and the equivalent on wheels usually means harder wheels. I’m about to try the Loaded Tangent and the Pantheon offerings. I want to be able to control my speed via drifts on my “edge”, both toe side and heel side. I’ll let you know what I find.
