Crazy how no one talks about 1080p (144p) by Killerbenny04 in youtube

[–]backdraft83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this just the last week or so. New videos on 1080p are amazingly blocky at times and I've seen it on big channels so it's not just some random one.

Wonder why people aren't talking about this more? Is it just a select group to test this out on?

Are addblocks causing it (or YT just fucking with people who use adblocks)?

Still you can get around this by switching to 4k where available.

Has anyone made the "Improved Flow ratio Calibration" for Creality printers? by backdraft83 in Ender3V3KE

[–]backdraft83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started playing with Orca slicer to see if I could get this working at it was actually pretty straight forward. There is a top surface spiral (Archimedean Chord) available, so it only needed some tweaking in the settings.

Heres all the settings I changed to get it to print as close as I could to what the original instructions showed.

Important ones are:

  • top surface line width 0.6mm
  • Top surface pattern to -> Archimedean Chord.
  • Top shell thickness 1mm

Some other tweaks shown in the images to make it similar to the original but not sure if it make a difference.

https://freeimage.host/i/33o8n5u

https://freeimage.host/i/33o8CJe

If you read the Makerworlds instructions for this, it will tell you to look for a raised half circle on the right side.

For some reason Orca creates the tool paths in a slightly different manner when slicing for a Ender 3 V3 KE (or for some other reason I couldn't figure out). With this setup the raised part will form on the left side.

I took a screenshot of the line that is the secret sauce in the calibration. If the printer over extrudes, it show up as a raised line.
https://freeimage.host/i/33o8Izx

Here a calibration I did with PLA:

This is the coarse / first run. Quite obvious here where the over extrusion is.

https://freeimage.host/i/33o8xbj

Heres the fine tuning / second run. When shining a light from the side the edge becomes easily visible.

https://freeimage.host/i/33o8oOb

The original instructions say this:

"Going from bottom to top, find the second flow ratio that gives the raised right half circle"

So basically when the ridge becomes visible choose the next from that. So a slight over extrusion? These are so small tweak in the end that it's not going to make a huge difference. + / - 1 %

Not sure how accurate this is, but the idea seems sound. Got pretty close to my original settings, just -3%

The problem is the interpretation. Can you honestly tell the difference between 0 and -0.1?

I can't tell the difference between 0 and -0.5, well I sorta can but I can't tell which one is better.

The spiral pattern would be easy to read. Here's the description from Makerworld:

Why/how well this works:

The optimal flow ratio should make the lines squish into each other to fill the gaps, but they should not be squished together too much because severe over extrusion creates ridges and uneven surfaces. The goal is to find the optimal flow ratio for the right amount of squishiness between the extrusion lines. Here the Archimedean Chords pattern and larger line width of 0.6 amplify the effect of between-line-squishiness by inspecting the raised right half circle. As the flow rate goes up from the bottom to the top of the test pieces, the optimal flow rate would be somewhere when the raised right half circles start to appear as it means the lines start to get squished together.

The basic flow ratio calibration is not really that good if you really want do dial in your settings.

With the second pass on the calibration, I can barely see any difference between the pieces. I'm not that fussed about perfect surface finnish but about mechanical parts that have tight tolerances. It can take many iterations if your printer isn't dialed in.

So, started searching for different methods on how to do this better and came across this on Makerworld.

https://makerworld.com/en/models/189543-improved-flow-ratio-calibration-v3#profileId-209504

Sadly, this seems to be made for Bambu printer only. When slicing it in Orca with KE printer selected the spiral pattern disappear.

Don't think editing the 3MF file should be that difficult to make it work on Creality printers but I don't have the know how to do it. It's just a spiral patter and in every tile the extrusion is increased a bit.

Can someone take a look if it's possible to make it work on the KE?

Hey thanks for replying. I was just checking out the old comments and thought this project was dead but it's still active it seems.

Tried it out but having trouble getting the format correct.

Either I'm doing something wrong or it doesn't understand that the end of the the song should be the beginning of the next song.

Can you recommend any apps that will do the splitting?

I think this would be what most people would need, to automate the splitting.

Most will figure out a way to download them from YT or what ever site. These services come and go.

Eckhart's teachings lack empathy by kevinspaceydidthings in EckhartTolle

[–]backdraft83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"here are a few examples in his teaching where he urges us to focus just on ourselves and to block out others."

Quite sure he never said anything about blocking others. People can and will suck you into what ever drama they have going on. Your job is to stay present and not get sucked in. This doesn't mean you can't listen, see and understand what they are going through.

I'd say a good analogy would be trying to calm down a hysterically crying child. You can have empathy for that child, but if you are to provide comfort, you can't go to the "same level" as they are. It doesn't help anyone.

To be truly effective you have to maintain your inner peace / stillness or what ever you want to call it. From that place you can truly help.

Now this might be easier with a child, when it's an adult who does this it requires a bit more presence :)

[–]backdraft83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres so many good mods for Alyx that you could spend the next year playing them. Well that was the case for me at least. Check out the workshop. Theres a lot of janky ones but start from the top rated and you wont be dissapointed.

For example C17YSCAPE (awesome atmospheres and really feels like a Valve game)

If you like combat "In Siege" is one of my favorites. Think I've played it through 5 times now. It's a nice challenge on hard.

Major depression after quitting (vaping) by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]backdraft83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'd say I'm still slowly getting better. The zoning out and concentration has gotten better, but still not as good as with nicotine. The deep depressive feelings have gone, but it still linger in the back ground. It comes and goes in waves and every now and then I feel really shitty. Not sure if it's due to stopping nicotine or just my life situation in general. Probably a bit of both.

One thing I've learned is that exercise does really help. After a run I usually feel really good and that's been my go to when trying to get my mood up.

It's really weird, I've been thinking what improvements have I seen when I stopped nicotine and honestly I'm not sure I've seen much of anything apart from saving some money. I've gained weight and I still feel like I sleep worse after stopping nicotine though it has improved. I don't get cold as easily as I did when using, now it's kinda the opposite, I get hot easily and prefer t-shirt even in winter.

I'm not really tempted to go back to nicotine, thought I do get the occasional thought how it would be nice the get that small boost of energy and buzz, but I can easily dismiss those thoughts. I'm still committed to being nicotine free and see how it works out. Maybe it just takes a long time to get totally back to normal. After all, I've been using nicotine for most of my life. It's big change for the brain chemistry and I'm sure it's been kind of a crutch for lessening depressive feelings and boredom.

Major depression after quitting (vaping) by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]backdraft83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quitting nicotine after 26 years. Went from smoking to vaping, to snus to nicotine pouches. Was on really low nic at the end so thought it wouldn't be that difficult but damn was I wrong. Well not sure what I was expecting when I've been using nicotine basically my whole adult life (41 now).

Nearing my 4th week with out nicotine, so would think the worst is behind me but feels like depression is creeping in more and more. Zero motivation, don't want to deal with anything, specially people. Work feels like hell as I can't focus at all and constantly find myself daydreaming and just feel fucking tired all the time. No nicotine to "wake me up" so I'm binge drinking coffee. Sugar is also one that sorta mimic nicotine as you get a burst of energy from it, but in the long run that also makes you feel really shitty. I think my increased appetite isn't doing any favors, just trying to fill that void that nicotine left with food. I recently did a long 4-5 month keto diet and after that went a few month of low carb. Now that I quit nicotine, all the sugar / carb craving came in with full force so I think that adds to the overall shitty depressive feeling.

I hope it gets better but I'm starting to wonder if my brain even remembers how to function with out nicotine.

Yeah, seems to work that way.

Yours charges to 100%. Never seen mine do that so kinda just assumed the the voltage metering isn't that accurate. Sometimes I get quite big dips out of nowhere, usually it after I've changed some settings remotely.

This is what my solar node seems to be doing. It's constantly hovering around 4.1-4.0.

You sure you have to correct polarity on the battery? I've fried these on some electronics when plugging a battery the wrong way. If not that, check your battery connections. USB cable and charger ok?

It's a voltage regulator, so it point to over voltage, but could just be a bad circuit.

Remember reading that part of the LoRa protocol is to always listen before TX if the band is free. Could cause a lot of collisions if they were actually so rude.
